Hi, I have spoke to Samsung and they advised to clear caches in bluetooth settings. So far so good!!
Thanks for the tip. It took a while to find out how to show System apps. When in app manager it's possible to show them by clicking the menu in the top right corner.
I removed the pairing with FR645 Music, cleared the cache, and restarted the phone.
After that I paired the watch with the mobile (from within Connect of course).
It required two pairing attemps after which it connected and transferred data.
I've got the impression, that it may be a software problem on the S8+ given the many issues with car bluetooth. Not sure it's a permanent fix, but will hopefully work for now.
Update: After an update of the firmware it started to work normal again. In a later update of Connect Blue Tooth connection was broken again (it is indeed hard to get Blue Tooth to work, so fixing one problem may cause problems for other users). Nothing helped so for a few weeks the watch was back to be a only-synch-with-computer running watch.
After the latest update og the Connect app it stopped working again. This time a hard reset of the phone did the job, so it works again.
Conclusion: swipping Blue Tooth cache on phone an watch may help. And fall outs must be expected since Garmin are having a hard time get it to work - and break it once in a while when updating.
Thanks to trux for the list of proposals that can be tried when it breaks. Will look into that to see if there's something I do not already try when Connect or watch is updated and Blue Tooth connection stops working again.
