I got in upgrade on Garmin connect and now forerunner 220 isn't sync anymore on Android (Nexus 6p and Samsung A5 as well).
Mine is exactly the same. Are Garmin going to help?

same here with my vivoactive 3 wich is back from the support. cant connect with the app, but phone is still connected. Garmin express says that the server ist down
