Strava Segment sync doesn't work anymore

I'm a Strava Summit member (Analysis pack only) and I'm not able to sync my Strava segments to my Garmin Edge 520 and my Garmin Forerunner 645 Music anymore. Garmin Connect shows all Strava segments properly (both in the app and the website), but they are not synced to the devices.

It worked for both devices perfectly, but the sync is broken since a few weeks. Maybe it's related to my changed Strava membership. I've cancelled my Strava Premium membership and switches to Strava Summit Analysis Pack later on. This pack supports Live Segments, that's all what I need.

I'm using the latest firmware on both devices (13.00 on Edge 520 and 5.70 on Forerunner 645 Music). Garmin Connect is installed on an Android phone (Samsung S9).

Does anybody has the same problems or an solution for that?

  • Update: the sync of segments works only via cable by using Garmin Express (macOS). But it does not work via Bluetooth and the Garmin Connect mobile app. It also doesn't work via Bluetooth after an successfull cable sync.

    Hi, I have had the same problem with my Edge 810 the last 3 weeks or so. I have to connect my 810 to my computer to sync Strava segments. Today I have just updated my Garmin Connect app(new Garmin release today) on my Android phone, hopefully that will solve it.

  • Has anyone resolved this? i cant sync segments via GCM only garmin express (win10) :( Forerunner 945 + galaxy s10 + nevest firmware and GCM.

    So I've tested the latest Connect app 4.22 on my Android 9.0 device. It still does not work, same problem as before. So sad...

  • Hi guys - anyone solve this?

    I pay for Strava. Have the most up to date apps on phone and software on Edge 1000.

    The new segment shows on my G Connect profile on website but won’t push through to head unit.

    Wierdly, when I tested deleting one “deleting segment” showed on Edge. Infuriating!

    Any help gratefully received.

    I'm using connect v4.29, and strava Android ver144.12

  • Do you have Strava Segments enabled in Garmin Connect Mobile? You can see it when you tap the triple dot symbol in the upper right corner of the screen Training » Segments

    My garmin won’t let me switch the “Enable Live Feedback” button. My live feedback stopped working a couple weeks back..........

    What is Live Feedback and how does it relate to the Strava segments? If you meant Live Track, then type the expression into the search box above - there are couple of threads discussing it, so perhaps you find one answering your question too.

  • *UPDATE - I just borrowed an iPhone, installed Strava and Garmin Connect, synced Connect to my watch and all the Strava segments are there. Narrows the problem down to an Android Garmin Connect app problem.

    *UPDATE #2 - This only worked once. If I change any starred segments and then sync with the iPhone it doesn't make the change on my watch.

    I'm having the same issue recently with my Fenix 5 Plus.

    Strava live segments will not sync to watch and I am a full access Summit member. I have confirmed that I am using Strava segments in the Connect app and when I click on training, segments, launch Strava there is a run segment and a bike segment. After I sync and go to the watch, start an activity, bike, options, segments or Strava live segments it says no cycling segments saved. This used to work. I have tried the following:
    1. Uninstall Strava and Garmin Connect.... reinstall  (Samsung phone)
    2. Install Strava and Connect on a different device and sync from that  (LG Tablet)
    3. Factory reset watch
    4. Remove all Strava segments from watch when it previously worked
    5. Un star all Strava segments in Strava, sync, star two segments (1 biking and 1 running), sync
    6. Sync watch while wired to a PC using Garmin Express
    7. Confirmed latest software updates are on watch, strava app, Garmin app
