530 unsuccessful pair with phone

hi got my garmin 530 2 days ago, but it just gives me only frustrations

i cant get it to pair with my samsung s9 or girlfriends iphone se

updated it to the latest 3.41 beta version aswell, but without success

the gps aswell loses connection every few seconds and even standing still the device counts meters and gives random speed numbers

i can see the device via bluetooth and sometimes it gives me a key for completion, but the app tells me that the pairing was unsuccessful and the device is still in searching mode

did i get a faulty device and should i send it back? or am i doing something wrong

The latest update to the app also fixed my problem.  I was impressed that I got an email from Garmin alerting me to the fix.  It was in response to a ticket that I had opened several weeks (months?) ago.

  • 2 weeks ago I bought te edge 530 and pairing with my oneplus 6 was no problem. But with the second ride the edge won't connect to my phone. I did a reset of all settings on phone and edge, after that connection was ok again. But the next ride same issue no connection to my phone. Does someone know a solution?

  • Same problem. The fix seemed to involve updating the 530 software to version 9.10.

It shipped with version 8.?.  Had to connect via USB cable to a computer running Garmin Express, check for updates (found a map update but it said the SW was up to date. That was not true). I disconnected the USB, cycled the power on the 530, then at startup it asked if I wanted to install 9.10. Installed it, then restored the factory settings, powered up again, and it went to the pairing mode. I erased the BT connections from my tablet, then ran Garmin Connect on the tablet, and the pairing process finally worked.

You only seem to get one chance at having the pairing pin code appear on the 530, so if it doesn't work the first time, you have to reset to factory defaults before you can try again.
