[Edge 1030] connected - but sync does not work

Since a few weeks I've the problem, that I'm unable to get the activities from my Edge 1030 via smartphone synchronisation.
The bluetooth connection to the device is green and at the device the phone is shown as connected.

But when I try to sync, the "transfer cycle" is cycling around for a long time and nothing happens - no activities are transferred.
Strangely enough the transfer of data field, widgets and their setups works without problem.

So currently I only can get the devices new activities indirectly when I synchronise the device with the PC (Express).

Lately I was I week at a bycicle tour (of course without PC) - not to be able to see the daily activities at my phone was really annoying!
Also the synchronising with local (free) WiFi networks did not work either... (don't know why - at home it works...)

Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a (known) bug?
How can I solve this issue?

BTW, my phone is android 9 based - if that matters...
