4.19-rc10 won't run on Android 9

My phone updated earlier this morning to GCM 4.19-r10. Firstly, why the *** is something that from its version number appears to be a release candidate being pushed out through the Google play store. Secondly, when I try to run it, I just get an Android popup dialog telling me that Connect keeps stopping. When I reboot the phone, I get the "Connect keeps stopping" dialog multiple times.

The phone is a Pixel 2 running the latest monthly update of Android 9.

  • Same here with Galaxy S7 + Oreo. After cleaning data, all working again.

I had to configure again from which apps I want to receive notification to my watch. Did somebody spotted something else what is lost after cleaning data?

Not sure - but I think NO - except the Smart Notifications.

But personally, I didn't publish any private data in GC. Thats why I wrote above, it's better to check again. I think, I only published the gender "male" in my profile, but I'm not sure. This I had to set again.

  • I would either clear data or re-install, but given the number of people experiencing issues I would hope that Garmin bring out a patch as a matter of urgency. Who knows they may even have released the wrong version and those that have cleared data may have to do it again.

  • I decided to give up waiting and delete the app data, I had to re-add my Fenix 5+ but my Oregon 750 & Edge 810 were still connected. This was all on my Google Pixel 3 running the latest updates for everything. However my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 are also kept fully up to date and they did not experience any issues. So I suspect it only affects phones running the latest version of Android

  • Same problem on Huawei P20 Pro

  • No update for me yet, but thanks for the warning!  I don't auto update anything anymore.  I wait to see what the problems are first.
