Update Bluetooth Connection in Connect Mobile for Android

Starting with the 3.11 release of Garmin Connect Mobile for Android, we have introduced an option to update the Bluetooth connection from within the Connect Mobile application to use the native Android Bluetooth system pairing. For instructions on updating please see the link listed here.

Please feel free to leave feedback in this thread.
  • Forerunner 935, Samsung galaxy s8, android 7.0. Watch connects. If I get out of range of the phone, watch refuses to reconnect. I have to go the whole way to re-pair the watch to the phone.

Exactly the same behaviour of my wife's FR35, moto droid turbo, android 6. If connection is lost it never reconnects. Have to reboot the phone (watch reboot doesn't help).
FR935 with the same phone model but android 5 and earlier GC version - no issues
  • Might have found a potential short term fix. Clear the app cache manually and then try toggleing the BT on the phone and the watch. Watch connected right away after clearing the phone apps cache.

    +1 for connection issues.

tablet running android 7.1.1 Bluetooth connection is fine.

google pixel xl with Android 8.0.0 has connection issues.

have had it paired but now it's refusing.

    forerunner 230 does not pair.

edge 520 pairs and connects fine.

does seem to be very device sensitive.

    edit
    ==============

managed to reestablish connection by removing by device in Bluetooth &
restarting phone. It then reconnected OK.

Have turned off watch and it reconnected to phone on restart.
For my scenario I think the Bluetooth stack on the phone is buggy.
I also have a few issues with using Google assistant when it's connected to my car.

  • Adding another maybe fix...if you have the connection aid option enabled on the app...turn it off. As I feel that I have to be glued to my phone now because if I leave it behind, the watch un-pairs and refuses to connect back I tried messing around a bit more. Found for some reason the connection aid option was enabled. I turned it off....watch began to reconnect if I might have left it behind (or just in another room).

Whatever they changed in the app (two builds ago) has broken the BT connection to the watch(es). I don't get it, but my patience is at its end here with Garmin and the never-ceasing breaking and fixing and breaking cycle of updates. If it isn't the app, it's the watch, if not the watch, it's the app. They change one thing and that starts a chain reaction where other things stop working. I swear is Garmin's code built like a house of cards?
  • It's incredible how Garmin hat te break the connection between the smartphone and the watch.

It's for some weeks that my watch connects only when it wants!! Already tried deleting app, reseting the watch, etc, etc.

It's incredible that we don't have a solution!!!

I have the same problem as everyone posting. A vivoactive HR worked great with my Moto G5 plus until garmin update a few weeks back, now connects first time then never again. What a waste of time.
It works fine with my Win10 Phone but not with any andriods I have so must be a Garmin Software problem

Hi I am having Bluetooth issues when connecting my new Vivoactive3 with my Motorola G5 plus (Android 7.0). I am able to connect restarting the BLE connection but after a while it is losing connection and not re-connecting automatically again, I have again to restart the BLE to connect, quite frustrating....:(

My Vivofit accurately tracked steps each day in January, so far. However, data did not transfer to I connect Android for Jan 1,2 & 3... Many attempts, also no transfer to PC or to ipad
  • Did steps transfer after Jan 3? Is it possible that you have 2 Connect accounts and the steps went to the other account?

Ok guys i think i'm going crazy. The fact is so simple. Non of the above solution had any results for me. I turn on the pairing option in my fenix 5 and then open the Garmin Connect Mobile but the programm can't find my watch. So i go to bluetooth settings of my phone and press search button to see what happens and i can see my watch so it's not the watch that has ant problem. Please please does anyone tell me step by step what can i do...???? PLEASE
