Update Bluetooth Connection in Connect Mobile for Android

Starting with the 3.11 release of Garmin Connect Mobile for Android, we have introduced an option to update the Bluetooth connection from within the Connect Mobile application to use the native Android Bluetooth system pairing. For instructions on updating please see the link listed here.

Please feel free to leave feedback in this thread.

When that happens to me, in Android, I go to the Garmin devices page, drag down the notification and turn off Bluetooth. Then I return to the devices page and let the Garmin app turn on Bluetooth. After that, it reconnects within a few seconds. It doesn't solve the problem but it's much easier than resetting a phone.

I do not understand how it is that so much of us have the same problem, and there is no one from Garmin who says anything about this topic, at least they are working on the subject or something similar
  • Typically Garmin doesn't comment in this user-to-user forum. I posted my tip above to try to help but this problem actually happens very rarely to me

solved the problem, uninstall garmin connect 4.2, and install version 4.91,
This does not make any communication cut problem of the BT.
the problem is in version 4.2

Huawei P9 lite 2017 (garmin connect ver. 4.3) starts comunicate with my garmin Fenix 5 (sw ver. 8.00). FINALLY!!!
  • Still not working. Using vivoactive 3 with Nokia 7 Plus (Android 8), running 4.5.1 of Garmin Connect. I have done a lot of testing and the pattern is clear. Connect the watch to the phone, everybody is happy until I move away from the phone and it looses BT connection. The watch never connects again.
We have two brand new watches (VA 3 and Forerunner 35) and tried to connect FR35 to Garmin connect on a windows phone. Works fine, move away from phone, looses BT connection, walk back to phone, connects to BT again.
Tricks like reboot phone and watch, not working. disable BT on phone and let GC enable it, not working.
We're still within return rights and while I like the watch, it's just sad to be missing the phone part. Currently Fitbit Iconic seems like a nice product, but I dont get why this actually is a problem, I'll assume phone connection is one of the top priorities from Garmin.

I'm having the exact same problem as Karsten - Nokia 7 plus - with Approach S60. After initial pairing the watch is connected for a while, after that Garmin Connect never re-connects to the watch. Using a BLE explorer app I'm perfectly able to connect to the watch and discover/read the services and characteristics, so the BT connection of the phone doesn't appear to be the problem.

Recently ran a software update on my Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) and my Garmin Vivosport HR won't connect properly. I've reinstalled the Garmin app, reconnected the Vivosport device, removed and reinstalled the device on Bluetooth but every time I close and open Bluetooth, the connection is lost and I have to re-enter the PIN and it still struggles to connect. It's frustrating.

Yeah I was also having the same issue with it. But when I upgraded the version and rebooted it, it started working perfectly.
