Update Bluetooth Connection in Connect Mobile for Android

Starting with the 3.11 release of Garmin Connect Mobile for Android, we have introduced an option to update the Bluetooth connection from within the Connect Mobile application to use the native Android Bluetooth system pairing. For instructions on updating please see the link listed here.

Please feel free to leave feedback in this thread.
  • My phones have never been on the compatible list and they've been rock solid. What's your phone anyway?

A one from China, Meizu Pro 5 (android 5.1). Was bought for the admirable sound output. Frankly speaking, I had no problem whatsoever with this phone. And namely with my FR 935 before the 3.22 (or 3.23) update. All worked like a charm. After upgrade the connection refuse to re-establishes (or sometimes does, but it takes more than 30-45 min) if the bluetooth was turned off and on again. The only thing that changed was the GCM upgrade (and a bit later firmware for FR 935). Definitively the roots of the problem in new version GCM. I had tried everything, including reset the watch (twice), completely uninstall GCM with clear cache (incl.Dalvik), pairing with phone and GCM, very slow conversation with support (completely unhelpful), etc. The only outcomes from this fascinating exercises is that the watch works but only with GCM 3.20.3 (perhaps earlier, not tested). So, according to the support response, I stack with this old version GCM, and all new features will pass me by.
  • The problem is with Garmin as I have had Bluetooth problems with every Garmin device I've ever had. My mum's vivofit hr constantly drops connection with her moto play 2017. My Samsung s4, s5, a3, honor 8,5x,6x have always had problems with vivoactive, vivoactive hr, 735xt and 935.

No other Bluetooth devices ever have problems - Garmin is the problem.
  • Same thing with :

    Samsung Galaxy A3 2017
    Nougat 7.0

    Vivosport 2.70

    Garmin Connect 4.16

no pairing ! (delete wipe cache partition / phone network settings / try with GC 4.05, 4.07, 4.15, 4.16).

    Garmin help me !

Hi! With the very last update of GCM I was able to connect my watch with wifi and localisation off. With wifi back to on: connection stable for hours and syncing ok!
As soon as I switch on localisation, I am loosing connection between my vivosmart3 and honor phone.
    Hope it can be usefull.

Huawei P10 Lite, Android 7.0, Vivoactive HR SW Version 4.12, Garmin Connnect 4.16

No change in pairing with any attempt. (wipe cache partition / reset phone network settings / GC 4.015/4.16, Vivoactive Firmware 4.10 and 4.12).

iOS 11 on an iPhone SE immediately pairs/syncs.

At Narfel : did you read that thread: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/on-t...66#post1272766
    Very usefull.
  • Always the same problem to synchronize my Vivosport FW2.70 and Samsung A3-2017 (Nougat 7.0) with new GSC 4.17
3 updates in 2 days and nothing better !
  • Bluetooth pairing is not working. I'm using a Honor 5c from Huawei, and it initially worked. Then I had to repair after receiving a replacement for a defect Vivosmart HR+. The new Vivosmart HR+ will not pair. At first I got the six digit code so fast that I had no time type in the numbers (10 different codes in half a minute, and they would change when I was still typing them in). Now I don't even get a code. The app says no devices are paired, since I removed the former device from the list. And the bluetooth settings on my Android say that no device is paired. The name Vivosmart HR+ does appear in the list of available devices, but only for seconds.
    THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATING

Using Garmin 735XT with Meizu 7 Pro Plus (Android 7) - GCM lost connection with the Garmin after few minutes of connection. IF you kill the GCM service, and it is restarted, the watch is connected, but then disconnected with no option to be connected again. Any idea ? Did all restarts (watch, phone, uninstall the GCM and re-install) and nothing helps. Any idea please ? Thank you
