Update Bluetooth Connection in Connect Mobile for Android

Starting with the 3.11 release of Garmin Connect Mobile for Android, we have introduced an option to update the Bluetooth connection from within the Connect Mobile application to use the native Android Bluetooth system pairing. For instructions on updating please see the link listed here.

Please feel free to leave feedback in this thread.
  • Same issue here. After an update of nougat pairing via bt failed. Today I received an update of GCM. Now BT asks for a code but the connection still fails.

Please fix this Garmin. It's a bit frustrating to have a Fenix 5 and not being able to see my activities.
  • Hi, i have a Garmin Fenix 5x for 10 days and after today's update, i cannot connect via bluetooth with the phone. It has disconnected and when i try to reconnect it just give me 3 seconds to enter the 6 digit number and it's imposible. I've tried to syncronize via wifi with garmin express and it also says wifi error. The only way to syncronize or update is via cable and Windows.
Can anyone help me? I'm not sure but it seems last update has done this.
    Thanks in advance

Hi, I have a Vivosmart and a Samsung S7. I have been unable to connect the Vivosmart to the S7 for the last 2 days (since 2nd Sept). I have been able to update my data in Garmin by directly attaching the Vivosmart to a laptop, but the Vivosmart is saying 'not connected' in the app. I have tried numerous fixes - deleting the device and re-pairing in the app, restarting the phone, turning bluetooth off and on again on both the phone and device (separately and at the same time). I can't think of anything else to try so if anyone can give me advice on this it would be much appreciated! I'm really missing getting notifications on the vivosmart, and being able to easily update my alarm time (don't want to have to attach to the laptop all the time).

I just want onto the Playstore to see if there are any comments and since a new version of the app was released 31/8/17 there seem to be constant comments about devices not syncing/pairing correctly. I really hope this is corrected by the devolopers asap, but I'm kinda glad to see I'm not alone...
  • i've uninstalled, and downloaded an earlier version - version 3.20.3. Works flawlessly.
I've called up garmin and reported this issue to them, highlighting the feedback of users here and also the ANdroid appstore. They will be escalating to their DEV team to review the recent release.

meanwhile, i would recommend that those who need this urgently to uninstall and use the version i've stated above.
  • I second to AnTiLoop suggestion regarding roll back to 3.20.3 - does seems to work. https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/garmin/garmin-connect-mobile/
But I have the issue with bluetooth without any OS upgrade. Still running android 5.1 and after updating Connect to the latest version I experience problem with bluetooth. When I switch to airplane mode and enable bluetooth right after (or later) the only way to connect the watch (FR935) is to pair it again (need to turn on the internet connection). After roll back it works as it should.
I need the airplane mode in order to track my sleep with Sleep as Andoid app (which is rocks btw), and the latest Connect update make me waist about hour of my sleep in order to figure out how to make it work.

Can you try to exclude GCM from Battery saving/sleep. I believe you can do this via the Battery section in Android..

Thanks so much AnTiLooP for the suggestion and Vitaly for the link to uninstall and reinstall the earlier version 3.20.3. This has worked for me! I really appreciate this tip, and hopefully the developers get the new version corrected asap.

None of these works for galaxy a5 nougat. It seems to be android problem :(
There is no bluetooth share app on this phone and on all versions i get 3sec of pairing numbers shown on watch :(
  • Same here, 3.22.0.1 loses connection and won't reconnect, re-pairing unsuccessful. Downgrading to 3.20.3 helped, connection has restored.
