Update Bluetooth Connection in Connect Mobile for Android

Starting with the 3.11 release of Garmin Connect Mobile for Android, we have introduced an option to update the Bluetooth connection from within the Connect Mobile application to use the native Android Bluetooth system pairing. For instructions on updating please see the link listed here.

Please feel free to leave feedback in this thread.
  • I don't have Nougat so I can speak directly about it however, when I went from 5.0 to 5.1, I found it took 6 or 7 tries before it finally connected. Once connected, it was fine.

You could try turning off your phone and the F5 and then turn them on and try again.

After I updated yesterday to Android Nougat, my F5 lost connection with GCM. I tried to reinstall the app - it didn't help, during the connecting process the app is saying: "Completing setup of your fenix 5 device" and the progress bar doesn't move. and after a while the watch says it couldn't connect. I also tried to pair the phone with the watch in the phone's Bluetooth settings, after I entered the pairing code it says: Unable to pair. I'm really sorry I updated to Nougat as this seems creates problems. Any idea how to fix it? Thank you very much!

On Friday my Samsung A5 was updated to Android Nougat and my FR935 lost connection with GCM. The rest is like Vitaliisl... anyone can help? Thanks in advance.
  • Hi all!,

I'm in the same situation as Vitaliisl and mam2604 with my F5. Any suggestion Garmin Team?

    Thanks.
  • By the way, I'd like to emphasize that I've been reading several discussions still opened in Garmin Forum about Android Nougat vs Bluetooth Pairing Issue posted since several months ago, even last year.

I'm very surprised there was no a clear root cause about this topic and, consequently, NO SOLUTION.

Unfortunately the best option for now seems to be to uninstall GCM and use the PC version.

    Regards.
  • After Googling I've read that some Bluetooth issues have been solved by Google in Android 7.1.X updates.

Is there anybody with Android Nougat 7.1.X and still having the issue?
  • Hi all,

In following snapshot you can see the status in which the GCM remains in my Samsung A5.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1246570.png

Hi m.ficac, after read and review several post about the issue to pair Garmin watch and GCM on a phone with Nougat, I am not able to pair them.

I reset, uninstalled, deleted the cache and data, reinstalled, tried pair through BT, etc, etc... without success. As well I tried it using the following app "Reconnect Garmin watch" (Available on Google Play) but with the same conclusion. My Android version is 7.0 so probably I will need to wait to another upgrade.

  • Hi, i have a Garmin Fenix 5x for 10 days and after today's update, i cannot connect via bluetooth with the phone. It has disconnected and when i try to reconnect it just give me 3 seconds to enter the 6 digit number and it's imposible. I've tried to syncronize via wifi with garmin express and it also says wifi error. The only way to syncronize or update is via cable and Windows.
Can anyone help me? I'm not sure but it seems last update has done this.
    Thanks in advance

  • Im experiencing the same issue here. GCM died after updating to the latest GCM version in app store android.
