Update Bluetooth Connection in Connect Mobile for Android

Starting with the 3.11 release of Garmin Connect Mobile for Android, we have introduced an option to update the Bluetooth connection from within the Connect Mobile application to use the native Android Bluetooth system pairing. For instructions on updating please see the link listed here.

    Bluetooth issues

    Hi,
I have Fenix 3 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
I did BT update. But still missing any notifications except phone call. I reset everything, reinstall Garmin App, Pair with device, Approved notification and app authorities. All notification worked successfuly. But after approximately one day, only phone call notification work. If I reset everything, work again but only for while (one day...)
    Any idea?

    thank you for your help

    Hi

Same problem. I'm using a Fenix 3 hr with a OnePlus 3 at Android version 7.1.1 and OxygenOS-Version at 4.1.5. Since a few weeks I mostly never receive notifications on my Garmin watch. I tried to reset my phone but after that it only works a short time and than I again receive no more notifications. My Fenix 3 is Bluetooth connected with my phone and I can sync dates in the Garmin connect app but even after that I don't have any notifications on my watch. So if someone knows this problem feel free to answer.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi

Both my watches, VAHR and fenix5, are unable to receive smart notification and configure IQ apps fron GCM since last two updates even though the status shows connected in my watches and GCM app. I tried reset watches, reinstall GCM, another android device both android 7, it didn't work anyway. But it was no problem and works well when connected to the ipad. Also tried installing GCM in android 6 device and connected to the watch. Notification works well too. It is almost confirmed the problem of GCM with android 7. Anyone have the same experience?

I'm no longer able to connect my Vivoactive smartwatch to GCM on my Samsung S7. I tried to reinstall GCM but I guess since it just reinstalls with the latest version it won't improve the issue. The android version is 7.0.

I updated the app sometime between wednesday and sunday last week, and among other things there was indeed a new GCM version.

Anyone got any good tips? Can I install something on my computer perhaps and connect trough the USB smartwatch docking to upgrade BT or something on the smartwatch perhaps...
  • You can try turning off BT on the phone, going to the garmin devices screen in GCM, turning on BT from there, and wait about 20 seconds to see if it connects.

If that doesn't work, I'm sure you did but I'll ask anyway. Did you try restarting your watch and phone?

Well.. no, I did not try rebooting the phone. I assumed this would be "too much" to have an effect but, I guess this is why you have "Master" next to your name.

After rebooting the phone the pairing process asked me to type in a pin again, so I guess it might have lost it's connection despite being listed as an paired device on my BT list, on the Samsung.
Who knows, after going trough the pairing process again properly it has started to work. Thank you for your tip!
  • Being a "master" only means I talk a lot. Glad it worked out.

Well, same same.. by experience or skill, it regardless is a fitting title ^_^
  • Hi there ,

How to block the Mobile from connection to the watch so the connection will be via the app ?
Every time I am trying to pair , the window to enter the code is from the mobile and not the app
I noticed that when its paired via the phone and not the app I have sync issue

  • Being paired to both the app and the phone should not be a problem so accept the pairing to the phone and then do the app. Once you are paired to the app, you can long press the device in the Garmin devices list which should integrate/update the 2 connections.

After I updated yesterday to Android Nougat, my F5 lost connection with GCM. I tried to reinstall the app - it didn't help, during the connecting process the app is saying: "Completing setup of your fenix 5 device" and the progress bar doesn't move. and after a while the watch says it couldn't connect. I also tried to pair the phone with the watch in the phone's Bluetooth settings, after I entered the pairing code it says: Unable to pair. I'm really sorry I updated to Nougat as this seems creates problems. Any idea how to fix it? Thank you very much!
