Update Bluetooth Connection in Connect Mobile for Android

Starting with the 3.11 release of Garmin Connect Mobile for Android, we have introduced an option to update the Bluetooth connection from within the Connect Mobile application to use the native Android Bluetooth system pairing. For instructions on updating please see the link listed here.

Please feel free to leave feedback in this thread.

    Hi,

I got problem with pair my vivoactive 3 to my phone (Samsung s8, Android 8.0)

I've already tried everything... unpairing, restart both devices, uninstalling app, etc.
I can pair devices until a moment, when I type 6digit code and then got a status that pairing wasn't successful.

Any ideas how to solve this issue please?

    Thank you

I have the S60 golf watch and it only stays connected about 30% of the time and only if I restart my phone. I am using an LG G6 with 8.0.0 OS.Latest Bluetooth version. It is paired with several devices and works seamlessly with all others. My smartwatch is not very smart???? . Garmin team not much help so I continue to post about my issues in the hope that someone will come up with a solution. I am stuck with this device until it dies .Good battery though.
    Hate this reCaptcha thing.

I have had this problem for some time. Not being able to even pair my Garmin 220 to my Moto G4.
However, I have managed to fix the problem by simply allowing all permissions for the Connect app on my phone. Go to settings on your phone, choose apps, choose Connect and then allow permissions for all options.

    Bonjour,
  • I've had problems connecting the FR735XT to a phone for the last couple of days, but since the last Garmin Connect app update, which came last Saturday, everything is back to normal.
  • Thank you for share the information, I will try now because my Fenix 6 Pro often disconnect on the day even my phone are close like if some energy safe mode and I miss call because of that. So thank you for share Slight smile

  • I tried hitting update connection, still not showing up in my phones BT devices list. Fenix 6 Pro, Android 10 Huawai P30 Pro.

Check out the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide, there are also some tips specifically for Huawei - the most problematic phone brand.

Huawei users are the most frequent victims of BT disconnections, because of the nonstandard way Huawei handles the apps. I'd tell that about 60% of posts (or more)  about BT problems here on the forum come from Huawei owners. Knowing that Huawei market share is ~10% (and most of it is in China), the level of BT problems is considerable, and also one of the reasons why Garmin Connect officially does not support Huawei phones.

  • Never really had problems with lost connections, just would like to have my watch in the systems devices list.

And what do you mean by "not supporting Huawei phones", they support android, anything else doesn't matter.

You are not supposed not connect the F6 through the phone's BT sceen. It should be done through Garmin Connect. The watch uses BTLE, not the plain BT, and so will not necesarilly be listed on the BT device list (though usualy it is anyway, if successfully connected - it may depend on the OS version and brand, though).

Have a look at the document Garmin Connect App Minimum Device Software Requirements, and then especially the following paragraph:

The following phone models did not pass internal tests with some of our devices. The phone and device may work together, but may require regular Garmin Connect App Bluetooth Troubleshooting.
