Golf app - use of golf cart

Why is the golf activity recording cart travel as walking? Is there a way to turn this off?
  • It’s significantly more work to carry 30 lbs of clubs around the course than to walk with a caddy, ride a golf cart. In My Fitness Pal you can specify, but that’s the only place I’ve seen.

it’s Similar to hiking with a heavy backpack vs. hiking with a small pack with some water.

  • One of the many problems caused by the lack of accuracy of walking distance vs cart driving  distance is caloires burned. After 18 holes garmin incorrectly attributed over 15kms of distance and  800 calories of activity to my calories remaining!!!, when mostly all I'd been doing was sitting in the seat of a cart. The pausing suggestion work around is unreasonably onerous especially if you are in and out if the cart driving around everywhere looking for golf balls (which is mostly what  I do it seems). It will be possible for Garmin to easily improve the cart accuracy - just a setting to optionally remove the official length of the golf course would improve accuracy enormously. This bug is terrible for those monitoring activity levels and calories accurately. Please fix because having the app incorrectly add unwalked distance and calories makes it too inaccurate to use and after all isn't a need for accurate data why you'd buy a Garmin product in the first place?

  • What about editing the activity in Connect after the round to manually adjust distance? I’ve only walked courses so far, but found this thread because I’ll be riding one this weekend for the first time since I’ve been using garmin epix for golf. I regularly review other activities like pushups and edit them to be more accurate. If I’m doing incline pushups, I’ve found it thinks I’m doing sit-ups. So a quick review and edit post round doesn’t seem to onerous to me as long as it’s not screwing up something else. I’ve read in the forums that step count is still accurate. An Option to tell the watch you’re riding would be ideal, but a quick edit after the round seems a lot easier than the pause method mentioned.

  • It's not clear whether the app is assuming you are walking or riding. If you figure that out, I'm not sure what the adjustment would be. It's not like changing a situp.

  • Seemed to work well. I edited the distance and calories in i a more reasonable estimate based on riding instead of waking.
