I just tried my brand new Forerunner 235 and experienced various kinds of connection issues with my Huawei P10 Lite smart phone. On my first try on pairing the device with garmin connect mobile, it failed so i restarted the phone and the device and after several tries it finally succeeded. Then I got a warning that I must update the software to fix connection issues with Huawei phones. So I did as explained, downloaded garmin express and updated the device. Even that process didn't work in the first try. I had to connect the device several times and after 2-3 attempts it seemed to work. My watch now claims to have version 7.80. Now, whenever I try syncing with my mobile the process seems to start correctly and when the circular progress bar (at least i assume this is a progress bar) reaches about 30% the display of the watch freezes and the sync fails. It takes about 2-3 minutes while the watch is frozen (if you press any button there is nothing happening) until finally the watch reports that the transfer failed. After that the device won't show up as connected anymore in the garmin mobile app. Restarting device, phone and even repairing doesn't solve the problem. It happens all the time.
This is a really frustrating user experience. Sorry guys but how hard can it be to make stable bluetooth connection???
Anyone some advice? Otherwise I'm going to return the device and hope it's a hardware issue specific to my device. But after looking a little bit through the internet it seems that I'm not the only one experiencing connection issues particularly with Huawei phones.
