I lose connection to vivoactive 3 when closing Connect app

Hi,
I bought the vivoactive 3 today and set it up with my Huawei P20. Everything was smooth untill i closed the Connect app on my phone. I then lost connection to the watch. Now the watch only syncs when i have the app open. I have no use for the watch if its not connected all the time without having the app open as i wont recieve notifications or anything.

Is there a fix to this or do i have to return the watch and buy a different brand?

  • Sound like it´s related to your phone/settings. GC Mobile needs background services enabled to submit notifications and your steps & activities.
    Steps are not sychronized constantly. This might seems to be not working. But there is some kind of intervall.

    Check if your phones rights for this app are enough.
  • Sounds like the same screwup as with the Edge1030. My Edge 1000 has no problem with BT connection, receiving notifications, starting Livetrack, uploading activities, etc without needing to have GCM running on the phone. My 1030 (same phone, so obviously the same GCM permissions on the phone) will not connect or do anything else without having the GCM app started on the phone. If you look at the Edge 1030 forum, I'm far from being the only user with this same problem.

    I have tried changing every setting related to keeping the app awake after closing it. But nothing seems to help. When i close the app, so does the connection to the watch. Not much more i can do i think except buying a different phone. Will have a look over at the 1030 forum though! Thanks guys.

    I have exactly the same problem, soooo frustrating... Keep each other posted if we can solve the issue?
  • What do you mean when you say 'closing the app'? Why are closing the app?
  • New update today, seems like the problem with disconnecting is solved . So far after 3 hours no disconnect from phone.

    I have the same problem with my Huawei P10 Lite, every time I leave the application the clock automatically disconnects.

    I have already reviewed the permissions of the application to work in the background, I have already reinstalled the GC and have even formatted the mobile phone.

    I do not know what else to do, I think there's really something to do with huawei, with Samsung I've never had problems.

    Can someone help me?

    I have the same problem. I have Forrunner 750xt and huawei p20 lite. When I close the app phone disconnected. How can i fixt it?
  • By using the search functionality. There are plenty of threads about Connect Mobile and Huawei / Android 9.
    Or using the FAQ on the Garmin-Website.

    Disable the Battery saving setup for the connect app (Settings -> Apps -> Apps -> Connect -> Details for engery... something -> App-Start -> Uncheck first, select following 3 checkboxes)
    Lock the App in the Task manager (Open Taskmanager -> Swipe Connect App downwards -> A lock symbol appears in the upper right corner [Android 9] Press the upper right lock Icon [Android 8])
