Notifications problem (GCM 4.2)

Some notifications from some apps don't trigger alerts by the watch, but they are there when I open the notifications widget.
Most notifications don't show on the watch.
'Sticky' notifications (the ones that are always there in the notification bar on the phone) are no longer displayed on the watch (Epix). I used to check the status of various apps by looking at these sticky notifications on the watch, and it is inconvenient that they are gone.
The Calendar widget shows "waiting for data" most of the time.
On an old Fenix notifications (the ones that arrive on it, many don't) do trigger alerts, and these can't be dismissed.
Are notifications and calendar working OK for newer watches? (My Forerunner 935 is out for repair so I can't check).
Tried so far and not changing anything: logging out & in of the app, reinstalling the app, rebooting the phone, rebooting the watch, using a different account, disabling and enabling the firewall, checked GCM app permissions and enabled notifications for all apps within GCM.
Is there a workaround available? Any tricks?
I plan to roll back to an old version of GCM for now.

Edit: With version 4.0.7 everything works perfectly again. Phew, what a relief!
  • I've done all as you explained and still the same issue. When I delete opened apps, bluetooth shutdown on the watch. I have to open Garmin Connect to get a connection.
Maybe because I did not all the fine with 4.2.

Hope the new 4.2 will arrive quickly
  • I'm sorry it didn't work for you,
as you said, the quicker Garmin patch GCM4.2 up the better.
Hopefully we'll get another announcement from Garmin very soon.

  • Getting the same problem - notifications were set to all on, so I turned that off then selected app by app. Now they appear to work randomly. Also there was no option to select the phone app which is a glaring gap (LG G6 for info).
Connect app has also become a massive battery hog.
I'm going to be rolling back tonight. Bit of a farce this one!
  • Something is definitely wrong. Yesterday I started getting notifications from apps that I hadn't enabled notifications for and started missing notifications from apps that were enabled. Now I get some notifications but the watch no longer vibrates when I get them. I also had my watch start behaving strangely... the time was suddenly 15 minutes behind and when I pressed a button on the watch is jumped back another 65 minutes. I rebooted the watch and the time went back to normal.

    Watch: Fenix 5X
    Phone: LG G6

My forerunner 25 now no longer receives any notifications. I charged it over night on Sunday and it was not counting steps on Monday. So I turned off the watch and back on and all ok. However today it isn’t receiving notifications.
turned watch off and on. Turned my LG5 off and on. Turned Bluetooth off and on. Unpaired the watch then paired it. Removed device from phone. But still nothing.
have set in settings to all notifications on. But nothing

    helppppp pse
  • I have another problem.

When I shutdown the app (swipping up in running apps menu) the bluetooth connection is suspended with the phone ... So impossible to get notifications of course.
I had not this problem before, and it still appears after having reinstalled previous 4.1.9 release :(

    Another one got this ?
