Notifications problem (GCM 4.2)

Some notifications from some apps don't trigger alerts by the watch, but they are there when I open the notifications widget.
Most notifications don't show on the watch.
'Sticky' notifications (the ones that are always there in the notification bar on the phone) are no longer displayed on the watch (Epix). I used to check the status of various apps by looking at these sticky notifications on the watch, and it is inconvenient that they are gone.
The Calendar widget shows "waiting for data" most of the time.
On an old Fenix notifications (the ones that arrive on it, many don't) do trigger alerts, and these can't be dismissed.
Are notifications and calendar working OK for newer watches? (My Forerunner 935 is out for repair so I can't check).
Tried so far and not changing anything: logging out & in of the app, reinstalling the app, rebooting the phone, rebooting the watch, using a different account, disabling and enabling the firewall, checked GCM app permissions and enabled notifications for all apps within GCM.
Is there a workaround available? Any tricks?
I plan to roll back to an old version of GCM for now.

Edit: With version 4.0.7 everything works perfectly again. Phew, what a relief!

How do you rollback go the previous version?
  • I am seeing problems as well. Email notifications for Outlook email client no longer work. No alert, does not show up on Fenix 3 notification screen. Prior to V4.2 update it worked as expected.

Edit: Calendar alerts broken, phone call alert broken, VM alert broken. This update is a train wreck, went back to 4.1.9 version. I have had GCM for more than 2 years without any issues. Geez, did you do any testing before putting this in the wild???
  • I also got problem with bluetooth association ...
  • Hi,
I updated GCM this morning to v4.2 and ever since,
Ive not been able to receive any notifications from my mobile.( 7.0 android A3 2016) to my watch.(v7.10 5x)
I've never experienced this particular issue before.
Ive reinstalled GCM with no effect.
I informed Garmin, its been escalated to high priority.(Lol)
I had four weeks of relative bug free problems,
and new it was to good to last :-)
    reverted to an
earlier version, and back to normal.
  • How to get back to previous version ?
  • After update. No notification .No synchronization.where to download older versions?
  • Also no sound alerts are comming from my watch, for instance,no vibe or sound for reconnect Bluetooth and disconnected Bluetooth,(out of range etc)

Also not able to keep alert settings from reverting back for goal activity.
    No smart notifications at all.
I've just hit the top of the Iceberg!
Glad I've reverted to an earlier version of connect, and everything is working again.
    What a horrible mess!!
I wish this update had been tested sufficiently.
    How embarrassing for Garmin....wow....
  • Yes, I also did it with your link Sam ;) But we will not be informed by Google Play that a new release which correct 4.2 problems is arrived :-/
  • I reinstalled 4.1.9 but I encountered appairing problems.
When I shutdown the app, my watch lasts the bluetooth connection
  • The way I did it was to:::::::
    uninstall 4.2.
clear device unused storage and memory cache
    then shut phone off.
    Restart then load 4.1.9
It didnt work for me either untill I went into device maintenance.
    hope this helps :-)
