All Smart Notifications turned on in latest update (4.2)

My Garmin Connect updated last night to version 4.2. This morning I started noticing my watch was getting more notifications than I usually get. I looked at the notifications and saw I was getting Facebook alerts. Hmm, I know I had that turned off. I went into the Smart Notification setting and saw that the menu has changed, and that "All Applications" had been turned on! Not what I want at all. I turned that off and ticked off the few applications that I wanted on. Before the applications used to be sorted (Email, Message, etc.). Now it just seems to be one long list of all the apps.

I have updated to 4.4.2 and everything seems to be fine for me - normal service has been resumed!
  • Can't say I tested for all issues - but only one found remaining in 4.4.2: permanent notifications still do not work, which makes apps that report a status via permanent notifications a lot less useful. Also have to reboot phone every morning to establish connection with the watch, but can't say if that is due to GCM or not. It is as if the Do not disturb mode remains on past the time it is set to end. Actually a nice feature on days off though.
  • … remaining in 4.4.2: permanent notifications still do not work,
I don't normally connect my Samsung tablet with my FR630, or update the Garmin Connect Mobile app on it, but (I guess a week or two ago) somehow the app got updated to version 4.4.2 all the same, and today I connected my watch to it for some otherwise intended experimentation. Anyway, after what you've reported above, I'm surprised to see permanent notifications in the Notifications widget.

  • Thanks for testing this. There has been a change indeed; the permanent notifications from Sticky Notifications Pro now do actually 'stick' on the watch. Those from Timesheet and some other apps still do not show up on the watch however.
I've made a sort-of workaround with an app 'Trigger' that sends notifications whenever certain permanent notifications appear, so I at least have feedback when Timesheet has started or stopped a task after reading an NFC tag. Notifications from some other apps are triggered to be resend by proximity of BLE beacons. Tasker and Trigger are real nice tools to get things done on Android without any programming.

Hi, Does anyone know how to get Instagram Messages working on the Vivosmart 3 because none of my IG messages / notification come up at all.

My Samsung Galaxy S9 (Android 9) was just updated to Garmin Connect Mobile v4.18.1 and all of the notifications were reset to be all on. The same thing has happened since about the first of the year, maybe late fall. Everytime there is an update I have to turn everything off, then scroll through the list enabling select apps. No issues with app notification, its the upgrade process. What's the right way to get this fixed? Very annoying.
