All Smart Notifications turned on in latest update (4.2)

My Garmin Connect updated last night to version 4.2. This morning I started noticing my watch was getting more notifications than I usually get. I looked at the notifications and saw I was getting Facebook alerts. Hmm, I know I had that turned off. I went into the Smart Notification setting and saw that the menu has changed, and that "All Applications" had been turned on! Not what I want at all. I turned that off and ticked off the few applications that I wanted on. Before the applications used to be sorted (Email, Message, etc.). Now it just seems to be one long list of all the apps.
  • Just noticed this myself. Very annoying, it's either everything, nothing, or calls only.
  • ^^^^ Yikes! You just reminded me, I forgot to turn on the phone app! For me it's Aqua mail, Hangouts (for text messages), Connect, WhatsApp, and now Phone. :-)

Just checked my phone. I can turn on/off each app for notifications, as I choose.
  • Me was also lightly irritated, when my watch notifies me 147 times, that my pictures were uploaded to my NAS.
On purpose deactivated Apps, like News Republic notifies blank sceens, again.
Google Maps pushes each Notification-change to the watch. Which happens every 100 meter, from 3 kilometers on.

This GC Update has never been tested on a real device, under proper circumstances, I guess ;)

Either that, or the test team likes to get lots and lots of notifications!

I have the same issue. In the old version of the Connect App you used to be able to control which notifications went to the watch. It looks like that's been removed. I really preferred being able to select which notifications went to the watch, and which I just appeared on my phone.

The hundreds of notifications during a short trip with google maps is particularly painful.

After the 4.2 upgrade I get no notifications from apps except text messages, have rebooted the phone and my vivoactive 3, all notification turned on. But my watch only get text notifcations, and the watch doesn't vibrate when it does get them.

Have you gone to Menu -> Settings -> Smart Notifications on your Garmin Connect Mobile App? That's where I get a list of all the apps. The "All Applications" was set on, I turned that off, then went down app by app to turn on what I wanted.

Thanks!!! I looked and looked for it, but somehow kept missing it! The update must have just flipped the "All Applications" option on.
  • I saw the app list and have checked/unchecked as desired, but I'm still not getting the notifications I want. After finding this "surprise change" earlier today with a Facebook notification, I went to this list to make the selections. One is the Clock app (as delivered with Android) and it's easy to test by setting an alarm sometime in the next 2 hours as that gives a persistent notification of the upcoming alarm. I've checked/unchecked/synced/... and restarted my Vivosmart HR and OnePlus 3T (Oreo) to no avail.
Any ideas what to try next?
    Thanks
