All Smart Notifications turned on in latest update (4.2)

My Garmin Connect updated last night to version 4.2. This morning I started noticing my watch was getting more notifications than I usually get. I looked at the notifications and saw I was getting Facebook alerts. Hmm, I know I had that turned off. I went into the Smart Notification setting and saw that the menu has changed, and that "All Applications" had been turned on! Not what I want at all. I turned that off and ticked off the few applications that I wanted on. Before the applications used to be sorted (Email, Message, etc.). Now it just seems to be one long list of all the apps.
  • After the 4.2 upgrade I get no notifications from apps except text messages, have rebooted the phone and my vivoactive 3, all notification turned on. But my watch only get text notifcations, and the watch doesn't vibrate when it does get them.

I have turned on the specific apps I wanted to receive on the Smart Notifications screen, but most still don't work. Specifically, I use Outlook mobile for my email client, and prior to the V4.2 update it worked perfectly on my Fenix 3. Now I receive no email notifications. This is such a deal breaker for me. For me, SMS text message notifications seem to work.

  • Me too! I use Outlook on my phone too and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get those notifications working again on my 935. I used to get notifications for emails and calendar events from Outlook. Now nothing on the watch even though it is set to ON. I wish I had know that I wasn't the only one before I uninstalled and reinstalled GCM and deleted and re-added my watch. What a pain, and for nothing because it still doesn't work.
  • I went back to version 4.1.9 and everything is working again. Turning off auto update for this app until they get it right.
  • How did you go back a version?

That last update was badly handled.

The new Smart Notifications are easier to configure but they should have told us with the "What's new" field of the play store and in the app that they had completely changed them and set all the notifications to be displayed on the watch.

Plus it ignores sleep time and my watch was doing sound alerts while I had them disabled, I found out that enabling alerts and disabling them again worked, hopefully the same trick will work with sleep time.
  • "... it ignores sleep time ..."
Oh no! Do I want this fixed ;-).

I found this morning that it provides some notifications from some apps, but not all the notifications (that it used to) from all of my selected apps. That's not a terribly reliable situation!

[ Still nothing from 'Clock' for my alarms, but I got a Notification from a 'Flow' in 'Automate'; but not the persistent notification from 'Automate' that it is running and nothing from 'Calendar'. ]
  • Same thing noted.
I've unchecked and re-added what I'm interested in.
But I now just have an option for 'Phone' app.
I don't seem to have the option to choose Voicemail, missed calls etc etc like I did previously.
Has that been moved elsewhere now?
P.S. even though I selected phone, I don't seem to be getting incoming call notifications.

Just Google the last version number and you'll find the apk that you can download to your phone. At least that's how I did it. I don't think Garmin keeps those anywhere on their website.
  • You should delete new version from mobile (GCM 4.2) and download an old one (4.1.9) for ex. here: http://apk.co/garmin/garmin-connect-mobile-419
and enabeld it in mobile for the instalation.
Next pair the watch with GCM.
The best is to send it from PC to mobile by email (gmail), then click and install.
If you do not delete 4.2, it will not work correctly, resp. it will not run.
NOW WORKS WELL AS BEFORE!!!! Uff, I am happy and angry to garmin FOR NO TESTING NEW RELEASES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree this was poorly handled/delivered. I turned off my notifications and this basically makes the watch less useful.
