All Smart Notifications turned on in latest update (4.2)

My Garmin Connect updated last night to version 4.2. This morning I started noticing my watch was getting more notifications than I usually get. I looked at the notifications and saw I was getting Facebook alerts. Hmm, I know I had that turned off. I went into the Smart Notification setting and saw that the menu has changed, and that "All Applications" had been turned on! Not what I want at all. I turned that off and ticked off the few applications that I wanted on. Before the applications used to be sorted (Email, Message, etc.). Now it just seems to be one long list of all the apps.

I must say that for Chinese phones like Oneplus/Oppo, xiaomi and Huawei are not very supported by Garmin. Cause I have experience with them and even my current oneplus phone on 4.1.11 can't answer call with my Vivoactive 3. No issue with my wife's LG or Samsung though.

Anyone else on non Chinese android mobiles care to share if 4.2.2 Garmin Connect works?

    Thanks
  • "This GC Update has never been tested on a real device, under proper circumstances, I guess"
    - most painfully is notification about loosing of cellphone signal. Is really annoying when you travel to job (and back to home) by underground and between each of stations your smart watch vibrate and tell you "No signal - name of mobile operator" - Best thing is you are not able to disable it! The only option is disable all notifications called "phone" (include SMS, incoming calls, missed calls). I don't understand how in Garmin tests GC updates..

I'm not sure what watch you are running, but on my Fenix 5 I can disable this on the watch:
    Settings> Phone> Alerts = Off

I had issues on my LG G6 with the 4.2 version so I uninstalled it and all was running fine with the 4.1.11
I saw the new update so install it to test : the 4.2.2 version is ok for me, test mail notification ok, calling notification ok, I open GC on my smartphone many times, the green point is here on the watch icon so the Bluetooth Connection is ok, I restart my watch : all is ok with the bluetooth, automatic connection, I have always the green point on th watch icon.
All seems perfect but I dont try a new pairing from scratch because the FR235 is automaticaly found with the new GC version so no need to pair again.

    Hi All,

Tested 4.2.2 all seem to be fine now on my OnePlus phone including answering call with Vivoactive 3.

Need to turn off all apps which is default settings for whatever reason and select only those you require.
    ??
  • Revert to the 4.1.11 (perfect version !) !!! connection is ok (green circle in GC and green bluetooth icon on my FR235) BUT no more notification !!! Same bug as previous version. So I revert to the 4.1.11 which works perfectly...
  • Garmin Connect Mobile 4.3 updated on my phone over night. This does not yet seem to resolve the Hangouts notification to the Vivoactive 3 yet.

Yeah there is discussion about the changes with the music player settings as well.

Please bring back the setting which Music player i want to use...!!!

In house i use an app for my home mediacenter ... when start cycling i want to use my Vivoactive HR ... which automaticly should start the given musicplayer which shouldn't be my home mediacenter app!!
And not first have to start the wanted musicplayer on my phone before i can my Vivoactive HR as remote control (i store my phone in a litte casing before cycling)

I have OnePlus 5 and have same problem. I can´t answer call.
Everybody who have this problem with OnePlus devices go here and write comment that you have this problem too: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/garmin-fenix-5-cant-answer-call-from-watch.780842/#post-17790681

I had a different case of the Hangouts issues even with 4.1.11.. I discovered that at least on my device if Hangouts was set as the default SMS application I did *not* get any hangouts notifications. If it was not the default SMS app then I did get notifications. This isn't a good solution to the problem.. but figured I'd throw it out there in case it helps anyone..
  • Has anybody tried the latest release and if so are all the issues resolved?
