All Smart Notifications turned on in latest update (4.2)

My Garmin Connect updated last night to version 4.2. This morning I started noticing my watch was getting more notifications than I usually get. I looked at the notifications and saw I was getting Facebook alerts. Hmm, I know I had that turned off. I went into the Smart Notification setting and saw that the menu has changed, and that "All Applications" had been turned on! Not what I want at all. I turned that off and ticked off the few applications that I wanted on. Before the applications used to be sorted (Email, Message, etc.). Now it just seems to be one long list of all the apps.
  • It's been several days, why is this not fixed yet?

    It is pretty poor.
Nobody expects an instant fix, but there are multiple known issues, and some people cant manage to install an old version.
All they need to do is re-release the old version so people can update to that.

Then once they have ironed out the issues they can re-release the new one. Its really not difficult.

That said, even if the bugs are ironed out, the new release seems to take away more functionality it adds, so I'd rather they didn't bother.

Same issue here for Vivoactive HR
    - All notifications turn on
    - No vibration, only alert pop-up

Temporary Solution: Roll back to 4.1.11

4.2.1 is out, but I can't get notifications to work still(except text messages), have uninstalled, reinstalled, resetup, and still no app or email notifications.

After trying 4.2 and 4.2.1, I had to revert to 4.1.9 me too. 4.2.1 was worst than 4.2, my device and my phone were unable to exchange anything.

If you have an Android and are using the Messages + app, if you go back to the regular Messaging app and set as default Messaging app, and change the smart notifications in the Garmin Connect app to get notifications from Messaging app (the yellow one) and unclick the Message + app (the red one), the text messages will start showing up again on your device. Easy fix for those who have androids and text notifications aren't working on device since software upgrade. I just fixed mine! Yay!
  • Count me in as having the same issues. No notifications and bad battery drain after 4.2. Tried 4.2.1 this evening and no better. Uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled. Ended up rolling back to 4.1.11 and notifications are working now, battery issue too early to say. LG G6, Forerunner 235.

Thanks! I was getting notifications for almost everything BUT text messages (the app I find them most useful for). This fixed it.

I do prefer the Messages + app so I hope they eventually get this fixed.
  • Outlook is still not working on the watch with 4.2.1 so it's back to 4.1.11 again for me. I am not updating again until Garmin-Joey says it's fixed.
  • *Sigh* I turned off my auto update until this gets straightened out. 4.2 is working okay for now, but I don't want to be making things worse either.
