Huawei phones not working with Garmin Connect

Is Garmin actively working towards a solution for Huawei phone users? Have there been any updates on this issue? I bought a Vivoactive 3 and while it is a great smartwach for running, it is mostly useless if I cannot reliably pair it or use it with my phone. Is there an ETA or some news regarding when this problem will be fixed or should I return it and buy something else?

I have a forerunner 30 and a huawei p9 lite and I never managed to pair the watch to my phone... This is a huge disappointment. I have tried all the tips here but no luck. Is there any official thing being done regarding this (for this watch and phone models).
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I had the same problem, with a forerunner 230 but with Garmin Connect App running ,going in
Settings -- Battery -- Launch, and then set Connect to: "Manage manually" plus keep all the settings on in “Manage manually” menu
You can close the Garmin App and now the Forerunner 230 seems to keep the bluethoot active .

    Hope this help

I was wrong, after a few days of use i can say that doesn't work.
If you don't keep the Garmin Connect App active the Forerunner 230 lose the connection with bluethoot.

Garmin e Huawei have to find a solution asap

Glad I found this. I was about to spend £399 on an S60,but I've got a Huawei Mate 9 so I'll do without for the time being.
  • I use an old Garmin Connect version 4.1.11 because all version since 4.2 doesnt work with pairing and/or notification
It fix all my problems !

    Hello.

I have the same problem that describe in there.

And try one thing about multitasking and apps in running in background.

If I close all apps ins background manage, teh connect only works 15 to 30 minutes. But I try to lock pushing de lock icon in background to fix in memory and task running. this solution give me a stable connection without probllem.

Sorry for my bad English, try my best.

I have a huawei mate 10 pro phone and a garmin 935 smartwatch. To keep the Bluetooth connection active, I need to keep the Garmin Connect application open. I deactivated the battery saving and manually configured it (screenshot 1)
To solve the problem I blocked the application (screenshot 2) so as to never close it in the background; for the moment it seems to be the only solution to keep the Bluetooth connection active.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1360050.jpg
  • You have to do two operations in the phone
1- battery: allow the manual startup for connect. This will autostart up the connect on reboot

2-applications, special access, ignore battery optimization for connect. This will allow background operations.

This a free translation since my phone isn't in English

I have Mate 10 Pro, and I do not have any problems with my Garmin 5. Perhaps it should be checked whether the mobile phone software is shutting down the Connect app. On my cellphone, the setting is in: Settings -- Battery -- Launch, and then set to: "Manage manually" for Connect app.

Finally something that worked!! After searching for months and emailling garmin support and never getting any news, this finally works!
Tried before updates through the Garmin express, which after many tried would allow to sync with bluetooth with my honor 8, but that only worked once!

But now, someting finally works!! Already turned bluetooth off and on again and it pairs quickly as it used too. Thank you so much!!

Don't work with Huawei Mate 10 Pro and Fenix 3. If I close Connect aps, always notification stop working. Bluetooth switched off.

    Hello friends,
I am using Huawei P10 Lite with vivoactive 3 music. Initially nothing was working, I mean when I was closing GARMIN CONNECT at the same moment my watch was say"phone disconnected. Besides, I was without notifications directly on watch as well as synchronisation issues.
Now all is fine and working after I followed steps shown below:
1-applications, special access, ignore battery optimization for connect. This will allow background operations.
2-applications, special access, notification, allow for connect.
3-battery: allow the manual startup for connect, this will enable background running of connect.
4-reboot will enable autostart up the connect.

    all thanks to jose.cboliveira

    Kind regards
    Rohit
