Huawei phones not working with Garmin Connect

Is Garmin actively working towards a solution for Huawei phone users? Have there been any updates on this issue? I bought a Vivoactive 3 and while it is a great smartwach for running, it is mostly useless if I cannot reliably pair it or use it with my phone. Is there an ETA or some news regarding when this problem will be fixed or should I return it and buy something else?
  • I have big problems with pairing Huawei P10 Lite with Garmin Forerunner 235. Initial pairing is OK, but after that no more pairing is possible. Although the phone app says "connected" most of the information isn't synced into the phone (sleep, hearth rate, ...). The only workaround is to delete the pairing and do the whole process again. Does anyone have the same experience with the same setup (devices)?
  • I have just got a p20 lite, and my Fenix 3 connects, syncs, and everything works fine other than smart notifications. As far as I can see all permissions are set correctly, the watch thinks it is receiving notifications, but just displays "no notifications" no matter how many I have on my phone. Has anyone found a solution to this yet?

i still waiting for an answer... i've a Huawei P20 and forunner 935 and no more notification despite synchronisation between phone and watch who's ok:confused:
  • Found the solution regarding missing smart notifications, at least for me. Open your phone settings, and search for "Notification Access", and make sure Garmin Smart Notifications is enabled. Even though i had the pop up within connect to request access it seems like it was never actually being allowed within the phone system.

E2A - It was actually a Garmin youtube video that showed me the answer... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSOOAxxceJ4

    DUUUUUUUDEE.

I feel like there are so many people going nuts (after going through the forums) that THIS would fix.

Thanks so much, I was going insane. Everything seems to be working great now.
I was literally about to take my watch back.

  • Hi,
I have a new Huawei Mate 20 with Android 9 with Garmin Connect installed (v.4.13.8) and a Forerunner 235. With bluetooth enabled on my mobile phone. When I try to add my Forerunner to the list of synchronized devices, the initial pairing doesn't work. On my forerunner, I follow the instructions to pair it with my phone (Menu > Settings > Bluetooth > Pair Mobile Device) but Garmin Connect doesn't detect my Forerunner.
    Can you help me?
  • Hello I had this problem with my garmin forerunner 235 not syncing after a run. I have a Huawei p30 pro but I read somewhere to factory reset watch and then repair and it worked straight away hope this helps

  • Hi, I also have a problem with my Vivoactive 3 and a P30. In the beginning everything worked fine but now the watch does not reconnect when I turn off and then back on bluetooth.

I always have to reset the watch to pair it again then which is of course not a good workflow. Trying to pair without a reset only shows a question whether I want to link the watch but no PIN comes up.

Tried and gave Garmin Connect already all required permissions and switched off the power managrment.
