Virtual ride not added to Intensity minutes

I have noticed that virtual rides synced to Garmin connect from zwift are not being added as intensity minutes. Nor is there a training effect defined for a virtual ride. Even though hr is saved fine. Anyone know how it there is a way to fix this?
  • I have been wondering the same with Zwift, but even without Zwift to Garmin sync. I record my rides with Zwift AND Fenix 5x and still don’t get intensity minutes. I’m recording my rides as ”indoor cycling” in Fenix. I’m starting to think that there is something wrong with intensity minutes calculation. Mybe it broke with the latest FW update? Garmin should maybe look into this.

I'm seeing the same thing, intensity minutes not picking up ZWIFT activities. Did you find a solution?
  • Intensity minutes are only calculated on devices that support it (eg F?nix 3, 5, Forerunner 935,...) - Zwift (the software) doesn't support it so unless you record it on your device as well (you don't need to save it to register the intensity minutes) you will see zero - just the same as you will if you record on an Edge device.
  • Hello again,

Looking these forums now, it seems that there is something fishy going on with intensity minutes in general. They are just not working at all most of the time. So I bet it is not related to indoor cycling ”app” in Fenix 5(X). This is annoying. There are references in the discussion here that those are not calculated even with 6.7x beta firmware either...which is bad. Hope Garmin will fix this (along with the WLAN auto upload in 5X).

Yep. That is right. Calculations are done within the watch and that is why I’m recording my indoor cycling rides with Garmin Fenix 5X (along with Zwift).
  • Same on my 5x, intensity minutes remain at zero on the watch after any exercise,(for the last three days)
and i can't view intensity minutes in GC either, disappeared?
  • Hi  ,

It seems that two years on, there has been some work done with an activity called 'virtual run' that in principle works well for runners in a virtual setting such as Zwift. However, there still hasn't been anything done to capture your specific problem.  I have raised a comment that I believe would satisfy our issue. https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/accessories-sensors/220058/where-is-the-virtual-cycle-or-virtual-ride-for-zwift-users

If Garmin produced a 'virtual ride', you would be able to connect all sensors to your watch and Zwift simultaneously, thus saving all your metrics (and intensity mintues) on Garmin Connect and Zwift.

Do you think this solution would satisfy your problem?
