Android pairing problem

Hi, so since a few days, my Forerunner 235 wouldn't sync anymore with my phone. This has happened before so I deleted the device from my devices on Garmin Connect and tried to pair it back as that usually works. Now it won't pair anymore. It gets so far as to give me the passkey, but before I can type in the passkey in my phone, the watch goes back to "Ready to Pair" and gives me a new passkey, and so forth. On my phone it says "Timed out while connecting to device" over and over in red and "couldn't connect to Forerunner 235" in grey every time the passkey disappears again.

New passkeys keep showing and disappearing and sometimes I'm fast enough to type it, but it just does the same thing.

I've restarted both Forerunner and phone countless times, turned Bluetooth on and off, all in every order I can think of. It just won't pair back up. I have no idea what to do and I can't find this particular problem anywhere on the internet... help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  • I went in here to find a fix the connection issues with my Honor 9 and FR 235, and tried a few of them.

For me, linking up and syncing suddenly worked after I restarted the watch. However, notifications still don't work, even if I've given Garmin Connect permission to notifications on my phone. Anyone have found the way to make that work?

Same problem with P9lite, I managed to sync the FR235 the very first time, but later connection lost and it never worked again.
I'll try again to factory reset and so on but I think that a firmware update will be necessary from both parts

OK, looks like that some attempts suggested in the lucky510 worked for me, I started the search on my P9 lite and then switched connection data and position info off, I obtained the serial on the Garmin device, but at this time the synchronization is still unstable so you must be sure to write it on time on your mobile phone before it changes.
After a couple of tries the connection didn't time out and all data was transferred, then I switched connection data and position back on.
The sync is stable since yesterday, I'll keep you updated in case of further failures

+ 1 for Forerunner 235 failing to pair with Huawei P10 Lite. Used to be slightly problematic, but with a bit of perseverance it could be done. Since around end of October 2017, its been impossible. Logged with Garmin help desk on 14 November, got a nice reply saying "looks like we've had reports of this issue" and that "they'd be in touch when a resolution was found". Since then, silence. Am I expected to accept that my watch now only does half of what it is supposed to do?

This is my quetion too: it's not a minor issue. Without this I can't upload my activities online, it's half of the watch's job.

I suggest to bomb garmin on twitter, maybe with some hastag like #garminfail

Just noticed on Garmin website that a beta version of 7.51 software was available to try.
"Various fixes and improvements related to Bluetooth smartphone connections."
Unfortunately, it hasn't solved my problem.

Can you post the link for the beta version, please?

    Hello.
I update my Fr 235 to 7.51 but it's still the same.
The Garmin Connect Mobile sync only once, then no longer sync
The Bluetooth system of the mobile phone detects the watch but the Connect Mobile app does not find the watch, and does not pair.
Sometimes the watch indicates a pin code for the Bluetooth connection but the system of the mobile phone indicates that pin is incorrect and not pair.
It does not seem to be a watch or mobile problem, but a Connect Mobile problem.
    A bit disappointed.
My phone is a Huawei P8 Lite, android 6 EMUI 4.0.3
