Android pairing problem

Hi, so since a few days, my Forerunner 235 wouldn't sync anymore with my phone. This has happened before so I deleted the device from my devices on Garmin Connect and tried to pair it back as that usually works. Now it won't pair anymore. It gets so far as to give me the passkey, but before I can type in the passkey in my phone, the watch goes back to "Ready to Pair" and gives me a new passkey, and so forth. On my phone it says "Timed out while connecting to device" over and over in red and "couldn't connect to Forerunner 235" in grey every time the passkey disappears again.

New passkeys keep showing and disappearing and sometimes I'm fast enough to type it, but it just does the same thing.

I've restarted both Forerunner and phone countless times, turned Bluetooth on and off, all in every order I can think of. It just won't pair back up. I have no idea what to do and I can't find this particular problem anywhere on the internet... help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a Huawei P9 Lite and forerunner 35 and am also having this same issue not enough time to enter bluetooth pin before it generates a newone. Very fustrating after checking that P9 Lite is compatable according to Garmin compatability list.

I think I discovered the cause for the PIN request loop: it happens because the watch is not paired with the phone in the bluetooth phone menu.
Stop the pairing on the watch, close the connect app, open the bluetooth menu on the phone, put the watch in pairing mode, search for bluetooth devices from the phone menu, now you can type the PIN and pair the watch.
Still unable to pair it on the app, though. Yesterday I was able to pair it in the app too, but after a little while the connection stopped and I was back to square one.

Just got an official answer from Garmin Italy: they know that there is some issues with the huawei pairing and they are working to solve it. Finger crossed.
  • It's NOT ONLY a PAIRING issue...
When pairing is done, its nearly impossible to keep bluetooth connection between phone and FR235. Sometime in the day I have a notification on my FR235 and I say "Great my watch is connected to my phone !" Yes but 5mn later, the bluetooth logo on the watch is red again...not connected...

  • Maybe a fix tip ???
In a french forum on Honor 6X smartphone, somebody just related that he has an issue with their WiFi home connection only while bluetooth is ON !!!
So he think that there is a problem when WiFI and bluetooth are turned on together on her phone.
Some people answer that they have the same issue.
And I realize that I dont have the issue on my FR235 at work because at work... I TURN MY WIFI OFF on my smartphone !!!
Could you test if you are WiFi ON or OFF ?
Turn WiFi off then try to connect your Garmin watch by bluetooth !
    Report here !

Turning WiFi off doesn't work for me. According to the Czech Garmin, they are aware off the problem and working on it. They claim, that there is a Bluetooth problem on Android 7.0 on Huawei phones...
  • I tried at home tomerrow and unfortunately, turning WiFi off doenst work...:-(
