I am using the GC Android app (like I am sure a vast majority of users who use phone apps > web) and cannot see at all how to have a distance displayed. I assume your comment is re the web graphs?
There is this cool thing on the elevation plots where I can use two fingers to highlight a chosen section. This will show elevation change between the two points and the time at each point. What would actually be useful?? If GC showed the **distance between the two points** so I can perform some mental maths to work out gradient. Or perhaps an infinitely useful feature... GC calculating gradient on the fly. Time on the X axis is a waste and enormously irritating.
After 6 years nothing has changed.
Whoever thought initially that showing the profile vs time was useful had never climbed a hill.
Every other app I've tried shows the profile vs distance.
It doesn't make sense that Garmin has the option (still it is ridiculous that it is not set by default) to set it by distance in the web but not in the app
Garmiiiin!!! Listen!!!!
Does not work in 2023.
The first option I described earlier, still does work, but it is more tricky now - you have to use two fingers - holding the left one at the start, and shifting the right finger to the desired position. The popup window then shows the average elevation (if used on the elevation graph), the distance from the start, and the time since the start.
Nice one! But the pop up dialog doesn't show the distance from the start point selected, but the elevation difference between the start and end points. You can also see the time difference and the average slope in %
Still do not understand what would cost Garmin to overlay the distance info, even if it is only shown when picking one point of the profile

That's exactly why I wrote you have to keep the left finger on the starting point (extreme left). Then it does work as requested.

Not enough demand. Request it at Share Ideas | Garmin, and if there are numerous requests like this one, then they will consider changing it. I am afraid though, that the number of such requests won't be any significant.
You wrote that it also shows the distance from the start but unfortunately it doesn't.
Yes, you can see the elevation difference between the two picked points and the average elevation but who wants to see that? For me those numbers are completely useless. What's relevant is the accumulated elevation and the distance. Otherwise it is very very difficult to figure out the real slope of the segment you select.
Thanks for the hint, I've just left the request
