Show elevation profile vs distance, not time?

When I look at the elevation profile of a ride on the Connect Mobile app (latest v3.19 Android version), it always shows me the graph with time along the horizontal axis, and I can't see any way to change it to have distance on the horizontal axis. Is this possible?
  • Nope, not to set it as your default display preference.

But how do I get to see it against distance at all. It's not at all apparent how to do so. When viewing the graphs on the Connect web site with a browser there's a drop-down option above the graphs to change from time to distance. In the Connect mobile app when I look at the graphs for an activity there's no way that I can see to change the horizontal axis from time to distance.

Still wondering if there's any way to do this. Nothing in the mobile app settings that I can see.

I agree with everything here. Having the elevation plot over time is a waste. I run a lot of trails and hills, and could care less about what time I hit a hard section. The mobile app needs to be changed so the users can select what they want to see on the horizontal axis. Elevation over miles is more informative. Let the users choose their format, just like you allow for the other changes.

been complaining about this very issue for a few years. garmin folks do not seem to listen anymore. why my next watch will be a Suunto as i look to replace the pathetically inaccurate fenix 2. been a loyal customer since the forerunner 201, but have had enough.

  • I also find that distance on the horizontal axis makes a lot more sense to me on certain trainings or runs. The fact that I need to go to the website to see this is really annoying. If the website already supports this, then surely the mobile app which is using this data should be able to do this too?

How on Earth can this still not have been solved?! Garmin wake up!
  • I cannot believe that after three years the profile graphs are still wrong. Showing profile vs. time is nonsense. Should it be displayed just in one way, it must be distance, and not time!. What if spend more time any day in the same route. Should I get different profile graphs?. It's clear that it was developped by somebody who does not know much about geoinformation, cartography and/or maps.

You have two ways to see the distance:

    1. Tap the graph to see the zoomed version. Then slide your finger over the graph and you'll see the distance in a tooltip
    2. Use Garmin Connect Web instead of the app - you can toggle the distance / time mode, there.
