Bug in latest update (3.17) of Connect Mobile: 920XT: Hikes are now "Strength Trainin

Seems the latest update of Connect Mobile now interprets hikes on the 920XT as "Strength Training" on Connect Mobile.

Poor testing... why not fix the bug by simply allowing users to re-label activities in Connect Mobile as you can in Garmin Connect?
It's equal work, IMO.
  • I got the advice to remove Hike2, reboot and log a hike with a hike profile made on the watch to see it this solved things.
This gave me the same result, hike was still seen as strength Training in GC Android.
I've sent the Garmin folder from my watch to the support team so they can have a closer look.
  • Support tends to say "Remove the CIQ app" if one's involved, and it's often not. :(

Yes but I understand how they need to make sure there's nothing interfering from 3rd party software. It's not a big deal to remove an iq app and reinstall it later on.

All activities go to strength training

I went for a bike ride... goes to strength training. I went for a run... in strength training.
seems the app really wants me to do strength training.

    See this image:
  • On the recent 3.18 udate it looks like my hikes are no longer entered as strength training.

Now I can't seem to finf the hike anywhere on the Android app (looking in to this some more, didn't spend much time on it yet), but it shows cotrect on the GC website.
  • On Android, Go to "Activity Stats", then "All Activities". Find a "Hiking" one, tap on that, and near the bottom is "View All Hiking Activities"

    Thanks Jim :) Found it

Tested both the native hike activity and the Hike 2 IQapp.
Both show up as they should again with GCv3.18.
    :)
  • Thanks for checking in on this problem Jim.
I've made 2 screenshots to show how the hikes end up on GC on my Samsung S4 mini (phone):

Translation from Dutch to English painted on in red :)
First screenshot is where the hike shows as strengs training. When clicking the training the second screenshot shows with normal hike activity.
In Garmin Connect online everyting shows up normal.
Hope this helps to figure out what's going on here.

I had the same problem until the last version of GC IOS. Last Strength was my last Run. When I updated few days ago, the phenomenon has disappeared. So it was definitely a bug, but not anymore.
  • And 6 years later it seems that strength activities may be counted as hiking or something like that because it shows distance instead of time/hr
