System Unit Always Reset to Imperial after set to Metric

I owned Fenix 3 HR. I manually change unit setting to Metric on Fenix, but then after it get sync to connect IQ it will revert back to imperial.

I tried change this setting on Connect IQ System Unit to Metric. Then I press back and check back it setting value on Connect IQ, it revert back to Imperial.

I suspect issue is on Connect IQ.
  • That did it for me

I have the same problem. I have Fenix 3HR (Software: 3.20.0.0).

When I go in GC Mobile android app (newest version) and go to System\Device Settings, I change my "Measurement Units" from miles to kilometers. I get message "settings saved successfully". But when I go back in Device Settings\Measurement Units it's reverted to Miles.

This solved it for me. Changed from Miles to Kilometers, Synced via phone and voila, no more miles on my watch.
  • Solved !!

I had the same issue. After trying several methods to change the unit of measurement, this one solved it for me.

Go to garmin connect on your internet. Click on the "devices" tab, look under device settings, there should be a segment called device display. Save it, sync your device, and it'll be fixed. It will also be reflected on the garmin app on your phone.

Hope it helps you! I had my problem for almost a month, imagine the frustration!

    Cheers
    Mika

    Worked for me !!
    Thanks

I have a 2 month old Garmin Edge 520 and this is driving me nuts. I set the sytem data on the unit to metric and do the same on Gamin connect. I've synced the device many many times and both the settingds remain metric. When I use the unit the speed and elevation are in metric but the distance is still in miles. I'm a cyclist, everything is in Kilometres. Please can someone help me? My old 305 was miles better than this.
  • I have been told that there is a bug in Connect Garmin. My Edge 1030 does similar - resets distance to miles after every synch even though all settings are now in metric

Hi there, just bought a vivosmart HR+ (SR 3.20). Set metrics to km (this was not necessary because the settings were already correct) on the android app Garmin connect and on the device. Nope. While running I get the auto laps correctly on each km but the current pace is always in miles. Since this problem is there since at least 3 years I am considering to give it back and ask for the money back

This was driving me nuts as well. I know it’s an old thread but I imagine there’s still people getting confused.

as per the reply above - go to the device on the top right of you connect home page (the picture of a watch) and set the units in there - ‘Devices and Sync Status’ your device should appear. Click ‘Device Sertings’ to bring up time format, distance units, language etc.

Just setting units in your own profile account settings doesn’t work - you need to do it in the device settings menu as this takes precedent over your profile settings in the watch itself.
  • Same problem here on an Edge 1000.
I've selected metric and kilometers both on the device itself, in the Connect app, in my profile at the Connect website and in the device settings at the Connect website (no idea why it's possible to set it all those 4 places when only the last one is supposed to matter, though).
Anyway, every time the device syncs, it is back to imperial/statute/miles/English units instead of metric.
