Connect IQ will not pair with my Edge 520.

Connect IQ will not pair with my Edge 520 even though this Edge is paired with Garmin Connect. When I try add the device to Connect IQ, it sends me back to Connect, where the Edge is already paired. But Connect IQ seems not to recognise that the Edge is paired in Connect.

I've been going round in circles with this. And yes, I've deleted both apps from my phone and re-installed them, and re-paired the Edge 520. It's made no difference.

  • I wrote here the way I fixed it: https://moguwind.com/blog/en/garmin-connect-iq-not-pair-edge-fix.html

It is not a short process, it is easy but long, it worked for me.

  • Yes Garmin have provided a fix for the 1030.  but not the 520 or 530.  There is no Fix CIQ option in Express for my 530

  • YES? Ok, that's good to know. I am sorry to hear, Robert, for all those 520 and 530s. I will add your comment to my post, thanks.

  • Please add me to the support ticket, and yes you can access my account to do so.

My setup is Edge 530 and Connect IQ running on a Samsung Galaxy S25 with newest Android.

  • Read your blog, that is super concerning - Garmin has knowingly decided to not support not-that-old Garmin Edge devices anymore for their IQ Store. And with the CIQ fix mentioned (that I won't apply, even if it comes for Edge 530 also), it proves that it's not really about hardware limitation, but a software issue they won't try to resolve. That is a depressing story on Garmins dedication to keep older devices operational.

  • Hi People

I discovered a rather interesting issue/status that may or may not have contributed to my Edge 1000 working with Connect IQ. Can't exactly remember why, but I was mid ride on Saturday and went into Connect IQ and noticed for the first time in quite a while the phone was connected. I managed to get it to sync the app across and do any changes with instant effect. The only thing I can suggest is I was NOT connect to a WiFi connection at the time and the bluetooth just worked fine. Maybe give that a go and see what happens.

  • Hi Allanhvass

I completely agree with you on this. These devices are certainly not the cheapest product for us cyclists, and you would expect them to me supported for their life. I too have some angst with Garmin. My Edge 1000 was purchased new and within the first twelve months the on/off button cover failed. Garmin replaced the unit with a "Remanufactured" unit. Last year again the replacement unit on/off button failed along with the battery life now down to about 3 hours. Yes from the purchase of the original unit, I had a silicon cover on the unit to "protect" the on/off button.

When I reported this I received a message basically stating the unit is now 8 years old and we no longer support them, we suggest you purchase a newer model and then listed the suggested replacement models, which here in Australia run around $1,200 to $1,500.

So now I have tissue paper stuck in the on/off hole which works well with the silicone cover and ride with a 10MaH power bank and cable to plug into the unit. My longest ride to date with this system is 235 Kilometres at around 11 hours.

After around 25 years of being a loyal repeat customer of Garmin, my next replacement most likely will NOT be a Garmin given their apparent lack of customer service and support.

  • Just tested by disabling wifi on the Edge 530, no change - still can't connect to it from Connect IQ. So something else must have triggered it. Would be interesting to achieve a repro and get it confirmed from others.

  • Same issue here on edge 830. Device is connected to Connect app, won't connect to Connect IQ. Tried reinstalling apps, unlinking and relinking, restarting devices, and nothing has fixed it. Very frustrating.

  • Hi everyone, while Garmin has been ignoring the problem for three months now, I’ve found a successful fix! Simply uninstall CIQ, then download version 2.29.1 from APKMirror and install it. My Edge 530 connected immediately, and everything is working fine!
