As a Garmin app developer it is very difficult to monetize my apps. Today I develop apps pro-bono and get some donations every once in a while but an integrated system allowing developers to get paid for their work should really boost the value of the ConnectIQ ecosystem and would attract a lot more professional developers that could help drive innovation on top of ConnectIQ, to make Garmin sport watches stand out even more to the competition.
also, it could potentially add a new revenue stream for Garmin. A win-win for all. better apps, developers get a little bit of pay for their hard work, and Garmin gets a slice as well
