Garmin AOD needs improvement

I can't be the only one who uses AOD, and can't get around the idea of having to lift your wrist to see the time. Whats the point of having a great display if it can't be "displayed" to the people around you. Your chosen display is part of your own personality.

Now the issue. Most of Garmin's own displays have terrible AOD options. Either it's just too basic or its so pixelated that I don't want to use it.

The watch faces specific for the Epix Gen 2 which I own looks amazing in AOD and I can clearly see it in the day. The general look remains the same and it's not reduced to two clock arms and a pixelated mess.

Can we please get more people to comment on this. Garmin's own watch faces are great and they can surley make it more interesting and better quality in AOD mode. We treasure these expensive watches and want to flaunt them.

Please Garmin, do better

  • I completely agree, surely there can be some user option. Most people workout for 60-90min a day and that is the bulk of the battery drain. As you mentioned having to charge your watch 1 or 2 days earlier wouldn't make that much of a difference. Garmin boasts about long battery life and in general they are doing a great job, but not everyone is an Ultra Runner, and I'm sure that say Ultra runner will charge his watch before a run or be sure there is enough juice as per any sport. My first Garmin was a Fenix 3HR and back then the big draw was that I needed a fitness device but wanted something that looks great as an everyday watch as well. They surely deliver on both and this is just that final step to perfection.

FYI I'm not much into the seconds hand, but it just shows, everyone has a different need. Bake some settings options into it and give the user the option to charge every 5 days or every 20th day LoL. The same way you can toggle activity settings and it shows you the battery life impact.

  • Exactly! I've always been of the mentality: the more customizable for the end user, the better, but obviously that's a trade off with making it overly complicated for my dumbass to set up. I've posted a question asking about the seconds hand, but if anything comes out of it that might interest you I'll pass it along
