Garmin express 4.1.6.0 wont open

This suddenly started happening after updating to the latest Garmin Express MAC software push.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, safe power-up, etc to no avail.

I've tried setting auto proxy on my wifi, I haven't changed any network configurations nor has my ISP.

Please help this is super annoying and I can't upload any files.
  • The "not responding" problems are hard to track down, especially with a faceless background app. Have you tried simply quitting Garmin Express from the triangle icon in the menu bar (it will ask you about the background process) and then restarting Express (which will also restart Express Service)? All I can tell you is that I'm running Express 4.1.6.0 and OS X 10.10.5 on both a 2010 Mac Pro and a 2014 MacBook Pro and it works normally on both of them.

    Unfortunately, we have been unable to duplicate this issue or determine the root cause. We released version 4.1.7.0 yesterday. Try installing that version and see if you continue to get the error connecting to the services. If so, we will need to do more in depth troubleshooting over the phone to see if we can determine the cause of this and get the information to our developers to resolve.

  • Kill background process

    The new version doesn't help. In fact, in my case I got the problem only after its push install.

    What finally did help was killing the background process with the activity monitor of OS X.

    In most versions I have used to date, Express more often than not does not come up reliably after I put my Macbook Pro to sleep, but crashes on re-activating and has to be restarted. Very annoying. But what I have come to expect of Garmin SW.
  • We have determined that one way to get the error connecting to the services occurs if an older version of Garmin Express is installed on top of a current version without completely uninstalling the current version first. We recommend a full uninstall of Garmin Express and a fresh install of the current version, 4.1.7.0.

    If the error persists, contact Product Support by phone for further troubleshooting.
