Sending scheduled workouts to calendar - fail

I have a Garmin Forerunner 410. I used to use the Communicator plugin and Garmin Training Center application to send multiple workouts to the device. Worked fine.

Now I'm using the Garmin Express/Garmin Connect since it seems Communicator is no longer supported. Plus I like the automatic uploading of workouts and web interface. But I have lost the ability to send multiple workouts.

On Garmin Connect, from the Workouts menu I can view any created workout and send it to the device. It overwrites any existing workouts already stored on the device. So it works, but it's kind of a drag to send one day's workout at a time.

But when I'm in the Calendar on Garmin Connect, I select "Send to Device" to send multiple scheduled workouts to the device, and after a longish delay I get a message that the sync failed.

I've recently updated the Garmin Express software to the latest version. Express tells me that the Forerunner is running its latest version. Today I did a hard reset of the device but the problem persists.

Thanks in advance for any clues.
  • CURT you're right. I thought the problem was with Garmin Express. Obivously the problem is with the "modern"version of connect.garmin.com. I have altered my post above to be correct. It nolonger says de-install Express and Install Ant.

The Connect team is aware of this issue. It should be resolved in a future release of Garmin Connect.

Dionbl, Jason, I haved tried exactly what you have suggested but it still does not work.

On Garmin classic>Calendar I do get the message saying that 3 workouts (from May 27 to May 29 for instance) will be sent after clicking on the arrow (top right of the page), and then Garmin express shows a message saying that the sync was successful.
But when I go to my watch, in the "Advanced workouts", it still shows only 1 workout (the only one I was able to transfer previously via Garmin modern>workout page), but none of the 3 new workouts I have tried to send.

Am I missing something here? When sending workouts through Calendars (which I wasn't used to do previously) do they go somewhere else than in the "Advanced workouts''?

Do they show on the watch only the very same day of when they were planned in the calendar?
And in that case how does one access them in the watch (through the Time/Battery initial display of the watch for instance)?
Or do they get stored (even if they are planned only in the coming days) somewhere else in the watch ?
Or should they all become available in the ''Advanced workouts'' section (and in that case it still doesn't work for me)?

    Please advice.

    Thanks for your help

PS: sorry the terminology I am using does reflect exactly the wording you are used to, but my Garmin website and watch are in French, so I am not sure of the exact terminology used in the Garmin english version :-)

When you send the workouts using Classic Garmin Connect, it actually just sends the files to the computer so that they will sync the next time you sync your watch. If you didn't sync with Express after going through this process, you will need to do this. If it is still not working, make sure that you have cleared the sync queue in Modern Connect in case there are calendar items there that will cause the sync to fail.
