Garmin Express won't sync/upload activities from 310XT

I purchased a 310XT last December and have not been able to load any of my activities. My device is paired and detected by the ANT. The "sync" starts and appears to make progress but nothing actually happens. I have tried on both a Mac and Windows laptop to no avail. I have tried unistalling/reinstalling to no avail.

Please help.
  • Thank you Lisa. A master reset of the 310XT allowed it to connect without any problems.

I had a recent update, and synch with my 310 stopped working. Went through a lot of effort to find something that helped, and found a thread from last year:
    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?89232-Forerunner-310xt-won-t-sync-in-Garmin-Express/page5

What worked for me was to remove the device from Garmin Express, and then add it back in. Worked fine. Lost a couple of workouts, but I did get today's.

Yes, wouldn't it be nice if Garmin would take care of this? I just updated Garmin Express, and still have the same problems. Why on earth would I have to add my device again, when it is still connected with my account? Oh yes, because Garmin Express cannot connect to the server and get the relevant information. But wait, when I try to create a new account, suddenly Garmin Express can tell me that an account with my name and email already exists. Go figure!

Even the message is nonsense, because there are no problems with the servers. I can log into my account via web browser.

The software of Garmin will be the reason that my next device will not be from Garmin anymore. I just finished the Marathon des Sables. I definitely do not want to make a hard reset on my 310XT and thereby loose the data.

    Hello Stephan,

Get rid of Garmin Express, uninstall it entirely. You do not need it with the FR310XT.

Download and install Garmin Training Center.

Download and install the latest usb drivers just for good measure.

    Download and install ANT v2.3.4

Rt click the mouse head icon > Device Settings > Make sure the "Auto Erase" box is UNCHECKED.
DO CHECK both "Auto Transfer" boxes.

Follow the prompts to pair your 310.

Open GTC and import your data from the 310.

The import process is slow....be patient....watch the 310 screen for the "Transferring Data" message.
  • You cannot be serious Don. You're telling us we have to use the legacy GTC software, which was removed from use YEARS ago in order to continue syncing the 310?

I synced my device on the 23 of April. The next day - no changes, no updates - Garmin Express tells me my device synced, but nothing appeared in Garmin Connect. Now, it still doesn't work after removing the device, uninstalling and reinstalling Express, checking for any and all updates.

I love Garmin products. I've used the Forerunners, I've used the 305 and now the 310. But I'm done with Garmin. I don't understand why yall aren't more responsive than "download the software we used 3+ years ago."

    Hello Jsr104,

Your frustration with Express is exactly what I went thru with my 310XT.

There are no more updates for the 310 so you do not need Express. The 310 is basically not supported anymore and replaced with the 910.

Just go to the GTC software and you will find it works just fine. :)

Don is simply saying that's an easy way. As you'll see from other posts Express and the 310 will work, up to you whether you use it or not.
