310XT won't upload

Not sure why the original thread I commented on regarding this issue was closed...

I was having the same, widely reported problem of the 310XT data not synchronising. There was a file with an old date - 31 Dec 1989 - which seems to relate to a change of personal profile data for weight.

What I found is that the synchronisation worked just fine after I'd installed the express software on a Windows 7 virtual machine on my Mac. Fortunately the VM was able to use the ANT+ USB device so it connected with the watch and synchronised the data.

So, for me, this seems to be a problem with the Mac OSX version of the express software rather than anything to do with the watch or the garmin connect servers.

Has anyone else had the same experience of a sync not working on Mac but working on Windows?

    Hi Jason
    My 310XT is syncing now using OSX - I didn't need to reset the watch.
    Thanks
    David

    Lucky you David! I have been repeating this procedure since Dec and still without success. I have tried everyone's suggestions, including Garmins and nothing resolves the lack of upload from the 310xt to my Mac. Even tonight's attempt to upload to Strava instead and now the Mac cannot find my device with either. Any further suggestions please?

    If you have not already done so, try the troubleshooting in our FAQ What troubleshooting options can I try when my ANT enabled fitness device will not upload data?

    If the error is still received, a master reset will need to be performed on the Forerunner 310XT. How do I master reset my Forerunner 310XT?

    If the error persists, contact Product Support for your region.

    Hi there,

    I run a lot with my watch and used it pretty well until last week. It is not syncing now. I already lost four of my activities while trying to fix it.

    I did following instructions in the forums which I can find;

    - Uninstall express, delete all express data/file. Nothing changed
    - Try to transfer all data, Nothing changed
    - Reset + Uninstalling express again.Install clean. Nothing changed.
    - Different version of express install. Nothing changed.
    - Master Reset + trying different version of express. Nothing changed.
    - I tried all install/uninstall procedure in different pcs without reset/master reset. Nothing changed.

    Still I have a problem, there is ongoing event approaching. I have to immediately fix it. On the other hand,I recognized weird issue that in transferring process, it powered off itself. At first time, I think I pressed power button but it did same again and again.

    This one is my third garmin. I have a feeling that I made a big mistake.

    What do you suggest? I contacted with "Garmin support". They gave me basic instructions. I think, they don't interested in!

    I am sorry about the trouble with your Forerunner 310XT. I am showing activities uploaded from your 310XT from today and yesterday so I am assuming that you have resolved the problem. Let me know if you are still having trouble.

    Hi,

    I can upload activities via my friend pc. But 310xt closes itself unexpectedly, while it transfers the activities.

    I think, this is the base problem. How can I get over this one. I will tried master reset again.

    I hope it will be fine. Otherwise what can I do?

    Hi, I'm also having trouble connecting my 310xt with Garmin Express. After finding the device, Express asks for email and password. After pinwheeling for about 30 seconds, I get an error message that says, "We're unable to sign you in because our servers are unavailable at this time." I've reinstalled Garmin Express three times, cleared my cache, checked my privacy settings, restarted my computer, etc. Nothing is working. I've also contacted product support but am not having much luck there either.

    @arianda, I had same problems. In my trials, It vanished in a way but I could not figure out how and why.

    @Admin

    Unfortunately, My watch go crazy, I run yesterday and saved activity and power off. When I came back home and power on it, I cannot find the activity. I just did master reset before the running.

    This is unexceptable and understandable. I am just using this watch about in 60-70s activities. I think there is a hardware problem. How can we fix this?

    If you are continuing to experience problems with saving data and syncing activities from the Forerunner 310XT, you need to contact Product Support by phone as the hardware could be malfunctioning and the device may need to be replaced.

    Hi Lisa, do you have any recommendations for me? I am still having the same issues as before.

    I am sorry that you are having trouble with your 310XT. This issue is most likely caused by an issue with the Forerunner 310XT where it is creating a bad GarminDevice.xml file. The only way to fix this is to perform a master reset on the device.

    If you have data on the watch that you need to recover first, you may be able to sync the device using ANT Agent before resetting it. Make sure that you quit Garmin Express from the black triangle in the menu bar prior to using ANT Agent and uninstall ANT Agent after you reset your device. You may also need to disconnect and reconnect the ANT stick when switching from one application to the other.
