Garmin Express Servers Not Working for Forerunner 10?

Hi
I have a new Forerunner 10 and I can't get it to sync to my Garmin Connect using Garmin Express. I had a forerunner 405 before which I have now replaced with this 10, and I have Garmin Express installed already which I use for my Nuvi. When I connect my new Forerunner 10 to my macbook using my USB cable, Garmin Express immediately recognizes it as a new device and asks me if I want to add it, so no problems there. Then it asks if I want to create a new Garmin Connect account or sync the Forerunner 10 to an existing account, so I click on existing account, enter my details, and that's where it fails, giving me the "We're sorry there's a problem with our servers" error. My partner was able to install Garmin Express on her Macbook and set her Forerunner up with no problems without getting this error message.

I have done some google searching about this error and it seems to be a common problem for other watches? I followed some of the suggested steps to resolve it, including changing my Garmin Connect password and resetting my Forerunner 10 watch to factory settings (hence losing my settings and my one run) and then tried to sync again but no joy. I even tried reinstalling Garmin Express, but still no joy.

Any suggestions are most welcome

I use express to update maps and settings on my nuvi, so it has an effect if i completely uninstall it
  • Well you asked about the settings on your nuvi, and there is no effect. If you completely uninstall Express and never use it again then you need to take other steps to update your nuvi, but that's not what you asked :)

Maybe you can clarify your question

What I mean is will uninstalling Express delete all currently installed devices i.e my Nuvi? So that when I install Express afresh on my mac I have to set up my nuvi afresh the next time I plug it into my mac to update maps and such??????

Obviously I want to use Express again which is why i am here. But I want to use Express for BOTH my Nuvi and my forerunner 10
  • When you uninstall then reinstall Express there isn't really any 'setting up' for your nuvi. Simply connect it to your mac then run Express, it should detect it. I'm not sure about the mac version, you may even find your nuvi is still listed in Express but if it is delete it then re-add it. This is recommended should you have any issues and should be done in any case after an Express update or re-install. There is more info here:

If you continue to have troubles with Garmin Express from last Thrusday/Friday you can uninstall Express then download and install the correct version from here, http://connect.garmin.com/en-US/start/.

I have tried that and it didn't work. I now have the 3.2.27.0 version of Garmin Express for mac and I still get the "We're Sorry, our servers are down.." message when I try to add my Forerunner 10.

What's intriguing is that after I shut Express down, the next time I open it, even if my Forerunner is not connected to my laptop, it detects it and tries to add it (and still fails)... very strange. So I still can't add my Forerunner 10 to Express to sync to Connect with the new version of Express.

Removing the device from Express will have no effect on the Nuvi.

I understand that. I have completely uninstalled Express as you instructed before. I've Installed the new version, and I'm still not able to add my Forerunner 10.
