Sync Virb with Express

Hi
Everytime I sync my Virb Elite with Garmin Express I get an failure. Please try again.
Some fit files do upload to GC.
Last time I tried to sync I got the same failure. I then went to activity folder and erased all fit files an then sync with no problems.
Today I turned on the Virb for a ride. Did no videos, only a ride. And when I got home, I turned the Virb off.
Connected the Virb to my mac for sync and the same problem appeared.
Looked in to the folder again and saw 4 fit files. 3 small about 5 to 15 kb and 1 big around 500 kb. Erased them one by one and sync each time. Still same problem.
Only when the folder is empty for fit files. Sync is the okay.
But GC do get the ride

So does anyone have the same problem?

Garmin Express V. 3.2.6.0
Garmin Virb V. 3.70
MacBook Air OS X 10.9.3
  • Has there been any update on this? I'm getting the same issue with my Virb too, it creates a fit file every time I connect it.
I have also found it is impossible to stop my virb from syncing to connect. I have deleted it and then re-added it in express without entering my garmin connect details but on a restart of express it is suddenly associated with my connect account again. Seems like there is some settings retained. I have deleted all the fit files, but it seem to insist on linking to my garmin account no matter what I do.

    Thanks
  • Hellloooooo!!!! Waaaaake up please!!!!!
I know now it's not a firmware issue but a Garmin Express issue or maybe a MAC Issue????.
After the update to 3.80 the fit file was still the problem and the size was 375 byte, but before I did the update to 3.90 I did a test to make sure the fault was there or not. I then noticed, that it now create a 342 byte file now and not the 375 Byte like before. And it's the same, when the Virb is turned on before I plug in the USB...
So to make a clean sync with CC, I have to make sure theres no 342 byte files in the Activity folder. Also after the update to 3.90.
I love Garmin, cause they are so fast making new products, but a fix. Well lets see. Maybe next year, but thats not a promise :p

  • I am sorry for the troubles. The case on this issue is still open. There have been some serious issues in Garmin Express that needed to be corrected which bumped the fix for the VIRB sync issue back to a future update.

Again I am sorry for the troubles.

Hi I have a new verb elite - did first ride today & the battery lasted an 1 hour 15 minutes after being on fully charge from mains. After the 2hour ride I switched the camera back on & the battery indicator showed just under half then immediately switched off again. The unit indicates it has been updated to the latest 3.90 but will not complete the sync & indicates sync error. I am using a sandisk ultra 32gb class 10 micro sd. I can not work out if there is a real error & the battery will only last 1 hour 15 minutes & not 3 hours as promoted. when will the next update be ? regard lee

Please look through this thread for information on the battery issue with the VIRB or contact Garmin Product Support: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?184980-Virb-turning-off-because-of-quot-low-battery-quot-but-it-s-at-43-still!

In regards to using Express with the VIRB. Since this is a USB Mass storage device you can manually upload the activity .FIT file to Connect. Please see the FAQ: How do I manually upload data from USB Mass Storage devices to Garmin Connect?

Once you have the activity uploaded to Connect and the video and GPX data uploaded to VIRB Edit delete the contents of the Activity and GPX folder on the SD card. Hopefully once the battery issues are worked out the device will work as intended.

  • New Garmin Express version and New update for Virb and we still have a sync problem. Why is it so hard for you to fix it? We live in the 21 century and planing a journey to Mars.
Please tell me why you ignore this problem???
  • We are still actively working on this issue. Right now it seems to be an issue with the device generating that file. I understand that it has been a while, but we appreciate all patience in this matter while we continue to work on a solution.
