Garmin Express wants to update EVERY TIME I launch it

I have GE installed on my MacBook Air. Because of other software that needs to use ANT+ (TrainerRoad), I have to close out of GE regularly. But every time I try & relaunch the software from the icon in the Applications folder, I am presented the software installation screen. This is not a once in a while thing, this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I launch Garmin Express. I cancel out of the software installation & click the icon again & it opens up correctly.

I have gone in preferences & set it to never update automatically, but I still get these install screens upon launch. Is Garmin literally rolling out new versions every other day? How can I keep this installation screen from coming up every time?
  • I've asked a similar question in a similar thread and still yet to receive an answer, so let's try slightly differently:

If you accept the update, then log out and immediately log back in, does it then ask you to reinstall? If you have the latest (mine is 3.2.18.0) does GE ask for a reinstall after you restart your Mac?

Garmin Express automatically downloads and seeks to install any updates after you restart your Mac, giving the impression that you are reinstalling it.

Garmin Customer Support - why not remove the problem and have GE request updates be installed like most other applications?
  • If the Garmin Express Installer package is opening each time the Mac is powered up, check the things below.

    1. Make sure there are no Garmin Express items mounted as drives in Finder.
    2. Use the Get Info Command + I key on the Garmin Express icon in Applications. If the Get Info window does not identify it as Kind: Application, then throw it in the Trash, Empty the Trash and use the instructions in the FAQ: How do I install Garmin Express on the computer?
    3. Once the install package is complete, Eject it from Finder and restart the Mac.
    4. Remove Garmin Express from the Library\StartupItmes folder. There should be nothing Garmin related in this folder.
    5. Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/AppUpdates/ and delete the GarminExpressInstaller.dmg file.

If the issue remains contact Product Support by phone and someone can investigate the cause.
