As per screenshot, the Garmin Express installer does not work on macOS 27 with Apple silicon hardware. The installer appears to contain a hard check for intel based hardware, which Apple has not shipped in over 6 years.
It looks like a fix has been released for this with version 7.29.3 for Garmin Express.
If you are still experiencing this after updating to 7.29.3, please create a new thread so we can get those addressed…
I created a script that will Install Garmin Express on macOS 27.
Copy and paste this into Terminal and run:
bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://gist.githubusercontent.com/sevenlayercookie/ba26f8b1fffc5143eb3046bdb8c0695f…
You’re correct - macOS27 is out of beta, Garmin has known for some time their GE installer is not compatible with the new OS, yet they still have issued an update. We should not be jumping through hoops…
This is 2026 were developers must be committed to bring up to date software. That is what we customers expect.
the interface of GE is also completely outdated. truly unbelieve as if I am sitting behind…
Garmin Express 7.29.3.0 has been released (Sept 29-30 2026. Depending on your timezone). This is still an Intel binary. This release does not appear to contain the installer Intel CPU check. The update process initiated from an already-installed Garmin Express on Apple Silicon works fine.
At the time of typing this Garmin Express 7.29.2.0 is still the current version on the Garmin website for manual download/install (this version still contains the Intel CPU check).
So the app launches, I can sync my Edge 540, view the map details, and manage maps. Tools & Content, IQ Apps, and Garmin Connect all highlight when I mouse over them, but none of them will do anything when I click on them. I never use them, so not really a big deal for me, but the app is still kinda broken with 27.2.
