As per screenshot, the Garmin Express installer does not work on macOS 27 with Apple silicon hardware. The installer appears to contain a hard check for intel based hardware, which Apple has not shipped in over 6 years.
It looks like a fix has been released for this with version 7.29.3 for Garmin Express.
If you are still experiencing this after updating to 7.29.3, please create a new thread so we can get those addressed…
I created a script that will Install Garmin Express on macOS 27.
Copy and paste this into Terminal and run:
bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://gist.githubusercontent.com/sevenlayercookie/ba26f8b1fffc5143eb3046bdb8c0695f…
You’re correct - macOS27 is out of beta, Garmin has known for some time their GE installer is not compatible with the new OS, yet they still have issued an update. We should not be jumping through hoops…
This is 2026 were developers must be committed to bring up to date software. That is what we customers expect.
the interface of GE is also completely outdated. truly unbelieve as if I am sitting behind…
You either need to copy the Contents folder from the install package to the existing app on your computer, or use an alternative installer such as Pacifist.
After installed, GE will run under Golden Gate unless you have a Fenix 9 Pro, the problems with which Garmin is so far ignoring in this forum.
But I shouldn't have to manually copy their software over. I've had this bug since MacOS 27 Beta was released and I waited patiently because I know stuff breaks when running betas, but part of why they release betas is so software companies can make sure their apps work with the new OS. MacOS 27 is out of beta, I've been running the RC since last week. Yet when I open Garmin Express and it tells me there's an update, the installer immediately fails and tells me I need an Intel Mac to run it. Unfortunately I finally retired my last Intel Mac recently, because Garmin Express was the last app that is x86 native that I still use and I was stupid to think that Garmin might actually release a new version of Express by now. Between the ongoing lack of MacOS support, Edge software just being buggy in general, and nothing but canned responses here in the forums, I seriously wonder why I'm sticking with them when my Apple Watch already does most of the same things.
Sadly, the solution is far simpler than creating a native Apple Silicon app.
All Garmin need do is change the processor check in the installer. The up to date version of GE runs on macOS27 on M series Macs - it just cannot be installed using the normal method.
