I’ve been using my Garmin GPS in the US for over 7 years, usually updating it every year or so without any issues. Yesterday, it prompted me for an update, so I ran it with the latest Garmin Express on macOS (also fully updated).
After the update, all my US maps disappeared! Now it only shows Canada, France, and a few other random countries. I've done the update multiple time in the last 24 hours, same results.
When I bought this GPS, I was told it came with lifetime map updates. Has anyone run into this before or know how to get the US maps back?
Thanks in advance for any help!
-
Open Garmin Express again and check under “Map Options” → “Install Maps”. Sometimes it installs only a region by default and you need to reselect North America.
-
If you see only Canada/Europe, Garmin might have defaulted to a different map set (sometimes it swaps regions due to space issues).
-
Try the “Change Map” option in Express to re-download the US maps.
-
If they don’t show up, you may need to contact Garmin support to re-enable your “lifetime maps” license—it may have gotten corrupted or unlinked.
