Impossible to sign in on Garmin Express 6.12

Hi,

Garmin Express runs fine.

But, when I click on my Fenix 5, I have the message: "We're having trouble linking to your Garmin Connect account. To continue, please sign in again."

If I enter my credentials, the application spins for hours and nothing happens (no error, no message, nothing). I've tried on two different Macs with the same result.

Garmin Express version is 6.12, the latest.

Any idea on how to resolve this?

  • Remove Express. Reboot. Reinstall Express. Try again. If still failing remove all registered devices and try adding one. Screenshot shows TWO Fenix 5X Plus. You own two?

    Edge 1030 and Vivoactive HR
    MacOS v10.14.3
    Garmin Express v6.12

    Here's what I tried
    1. Deleted both devices and tried to add again
    2. Fully uninstalled and re-installed Garmin Express
    3. Checked all potential issues I could find in the forums (https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?fa...4s2S0wfUYR2QY9 and https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?fa...I02dC0ULxHR2T6), including

    I get a Server error 500 when I try to add the device and click log-in

    I have no problems adding the 2 devices on my spouse's Windows 10 laptop (but don't want to use her laptop all the time).

    I'm having the same problem on Garmin Express 3.13.0.0 (Mac High Sierra). I encourage everyone to reach out via email using their web form:

    This seems to be a widespread issue related to recent releases.
  • Not so sure that it's "widespread issue". There's only a couple of posts here. I have a map update underway here at the moment with Express 6.13.0 on MacOS Mojave. I'd upload a screenshot but the damn forum's playing up again.

    But of course, if you have the problem report it to Garmin Support.

    Hi all,

    I heard back from Garmin support today and received the following instructions, which resolved my issue:
    • Click on Spotlight
    • Type Keychain Access
    • Press Return
    • Under the Login keychain, locate com.garmin.cartography.mapupdate.express.auth
    • Delete keychain item
    • Restart the Mac
    • Attempt to add the device to Express
    Re-adding my device then worked. Hope this helps!
