Garmin Swim syncing error

My Garmin Swim is giving an error in syncing to Garmin Connect using Gamrin Express on Mac. It actually uploads an activity on Garmin Connect but it is just annoying that the errors get shown when uploading an activity every time. Please help.

I am sorry you are getting a message that there was an error syncing when trying to use Garmin Express. If the new data is uploading, then there is probably a piece of old data on the computer or the device that is corrupt and needs to be removed. Please try the following:
    • Upload all your data to Connect like you have been doing.
    • Delete all the History from your Garmin Swim. If you don't know how, please see page 3 of the ">Owner's Manual">Owner's Manual.
    • On the Mac, click on "Go" at the top of the screen. If you don't see it, you may need to close any open programs.
    • Click on "Go to Folder...".
    • Type in ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/RegisteredDevices and click on "Go".
    • Open the folder with the Unit ID of your Garmin Swim. (The Unit ID is a ten-digit number.)
    • Drag the "PendingSyncUploads" folder to the "Trash".
    • Empty the Trash on your Mac.

Now, please see if the issue is fixed the next time you upload data. Let us know if you still have trouble.

    Hi Dave,
Thanks for the instructions. I followed the instructions but it still gives me the same error. A funny thing is that an actvity can be posted on Garmin Connect even though the error message. Please advise.

I am sorry you are still getting an error during syncing. I see something in Garmin connect that may be causing the error. It is trying to download a setting change to the device. This may be what is failing since the upload is working. Please try clearing the Sync queue with these steps:
    • Log into Garmin Connect.
    • Click on the Sync queue on the left side of the screen. (It looks like 2 arrows and has a number in a circle next to it.)
    • Right below the Garmin Swim, it shows "User Settings". Click on the "x" to the right of this.
    • Confirm you want to remove this.

Now that the queue is clear, please try syncing again. Let us know if it still gives you an error.

I did what you had instructed but it failed again, and this time it did not evey upload the activity to Garmin Connect.
After removing the user setting, Garmn Swim is gone from the left pan though….

I am sorry you are still getting an error when trying to upload to Garmin Connect. If you cleared all the old data from the watch, the sync data on the computer it was uploading, and the sync queue in Garmin Connect but you still get the error, it means there is still some bad data on the SWIM itself. This means we will have to Master Reset the SWIM. Unfortunately, this will delete all user data from the SWIM. Please use the FAQ, "">How do I master reset the Garmin Swim?">How do I master reset the Garmin Swim?"

If you still have trouble, please call ">Product Support">Product Support.

    Hi Dave,
As you suggested, I have performed the master reset. And I swam and tried to upload the activity to Garmin Connect. It showed an error again but this time the activity got posted on Garmin Connect. On the other hand, I did not get the activity on Strava under the activity feed. However I got an notification under "Bell mark" on right top conner on Strava and when clicked it, the activity can be reviewed . But not under the Activity Feed at where all activities are supposed to get posted. The activity does not get shown in the Training Log on Strava either.

    Dave,
I did the master reset but still giving an error. And this time it got posted on Garmin connect. However it did not get posted on Strava under the activity feed. On Strava there is a "Bell mark" on top right corner, when clicked it, it showed the activity. But the activity does not get shown at Training Log on Strava.

If you are still getting an error uploading data from the SWIM, please contact ">Product Support">Product Support by phone. There should be no data that can cause an error at this point. So, our agents need to look at the issue in more detail than we can in the forums.
