When I plug in my Nuvi 2599 to the MacBook Pro I cannot get any connection, despite the link between the 2 being apparently good electrically.
I plug the device into a USB port and the computer and after some 30 seconds the Garmin icon comes up on the desktop and Garmin Express fires up.
However the software steadfastly refuses to recognise the device at all , just stating that it is not connected, and nothing that I do makes any difference. I have tried rebooting the computer, starting up with the Garmin connected, switching the device off and on , all to no avail.
I am running version 8.2 of the software, and it confirms that I am up to date.
I know that the Garmin is nearly full with only a few MB of disc free , so I purchased an 8GB micro SD card to aid, and this gets recognised as a "No Name" icon on the desk top. I have tried removing the card , but no difference. Has this installation affected the communication.
Just for completeness I also use Garmin Connect for my Edge 200 bike computer, has this possibly caused a conflict in any way?
I would be very grateful of any suggestion as this is getting me down a bit.
