There was a problem connectin to the Garmin servers

Former Member
Purchased new Forerunner 15.

Installed Garmin Express, and cannot sign in.

"There was a problem connecting to the Garmin Servers. We're unable to sign you in because our servers are unavailable at this time"

When will they be available???

Not the nicest welcome for a new Garmin user :(
  • Doesn't help that threads keep getting locked down, if one thread was kept open for discussion people wouldn't need to keep starting new ones and we all wouldn't feel like we were being shut down.

I am too having the same problem with my replacement fenix 3 that arrived today. I understand there is an issue, what I don't understand is why it isn't on here where logically people first check upon having problems with garmin connect:
    https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status

    LucasE-Ville,

    I agree,

What would be nice to all the users is the opening screen of this forum posting "Server Problems" across the top of the screen in a ticker tape fashion.

But that would require "Garmin" to thinking outside of the box.

    AND USE THIS SPACE........

  • I'm amazed how can be possible that Garmin doesn't give an estimated time for having this fixed. Garmin guys, this is fundamental in customer care !!!
  • Apparently the servers are up again. I have just been able to register my device...
  • Yup someone tipped me off on twitter, all systems go!

I'm also now connected on the Android app and PC front. This is great, but as previously mentioned, Garmin need to make the status of their servers more available. I wasted a lot of today chasing my tail changing pc settings and the like in the hope it would help.

    connect.garmin.com/en-US/status

Same problema with Fenix3. Can't connect to servers in Garmin Express on PC with Windows 8.1 and Can't synch Activities with Garmin Connect in Iphone6...

Looks like there is something wrong in the validation with Garmin Servers

Now is working!!! Garmin Express and Garmin Connect.

    Good to know!
  • OK, to help others I will reply here.
Got a 2nd hand Garmin Edge 500 and could not get it to work either. Spent hours and hours and finally solved it. Skip the complete Garmin FAQ with things like proxy, resinstall, etc. Also no difference in Windows & MacOS. The former owner deleted the Edge in his Garmin so that was no the issue either. I could login in Garmin website online with no problem so my account was correct. Furthermore when connecting with USB cable Garmin Express software could see my Edge (with green dot next to it). But when trying to login I got something like could not connect to server or trying to reach server without succes (the Dutch version so I have no clue what the English version is).
Without further ado my winning combination. On a forum I read something about setting your laptop in the correct country/timezone but this was already correct in my case. But it triggered me. What if the Garmin device in one way or another did not have the correct time/date? Here is what I did:
    1. Hard reset (in my case 3 out of buttons, check garmin website)
    2. let the thing find sattelites
BAM! synced after long time and worked in Garmin Express again.
I dont know if 1 is needed so you skip that probably.
What happened? The former owner had not used it for a long time so the Edge lost all (predictive) GPS positioning info. With all my fiddling today (and earlier) I never gave it the change to find sattelites again. In my scenario it has to find them from scratch so it took about half an hour. I bet a lot of people with this issue have the same.
