There was a problem connectin to the Garmin servers

Purchased new Forerunner 15.

Installed Garmin Express, and cannot sign in.

"There was a problem connecting to the Garmin Servers. We're unable to sign you in because our servers are unavailable at this time"

When will they be available???

Not the nicest welcome for a new Garmin user :(
  • Same problem with brand new FR 220. I thought my unit could be faulty. After reading your post I think the servers are temporary unavailable. Yesterday I connected FR 15 with no problem. Maybe later today issue is solved.

    I have the same problem - I need to register a new Edge 510 through Garmin Express to my Connect account and I have tried since yesterday only to get this message: "There was a problem connecting to the Garmin Servers. We're unable to sign you in because our servers are unavailable at this time".
    The thing is that I can sign in to my connect account without any problem through my browser.

    x2! I just purchased a Forerunner 10 yesterday, it's a really nice device, however I can not sign into Garmin Express also. I am getting the same error you have. I tried troubleshooting it as per the FAQ -- Making sure the PC's clock is correct, disabling the firewall on Norton Security, etc. but have not had any luck.

    It's possible then that the servers truly are experiencing an issue? As a new user as well, I agree, this is not the nicest welcome and kind of discouraging.

    Garmin Support -- Please advise!

    Same problema with Fenix3. Can't connect to servers in Garmin Express on PC with Windows 8.1 and Can't synch Activities with Garmin Connect in Iphone6...

    Looks like there is something wrong in the validation with Garmin Servers
  • If you look at the threads here you'll see Garmin support do help here. You'll also see that there is an issue with the servers at the moment that is being actively worked on. The advice in other threads is to try again later.

    Same issue here after successfully pairing my vivofit2 with Garmin Express on Windows 7 & 8.1, I enter my Garmin credentials and get the "There was a problem connecting to the Garmin servers" message. Possibly same underlying issue with Garmin Connect app on Samsung Galaxy Tab S which gives "Device registration failed OTHER_FATAL" after successfully connecting to the vivofit2, checking device registration and reading device identification file.

    Not a great start to my first dip into Garmin products! If someone successfully connects to the servers do tell! :-)

    Edit: As others have mentioned, I've also been trying for the past ~24hrs to connect.
  • Same Issue with a brand new Edge 500. ¿24 hours with servers unavailable? I work for an IT company, if I get my customer with a service down for 24 hours I will be fired!

    i get the following error on Garmin Express (4.0.20): "there was a problem connecting to the Garmin servers" "We're unable to sign you in because our servers are unavailable at this time" I can logon to the Garmin Connect webpage with this user.

    has been happening since last night 9pm GMT.

    Same problem with my brand new Vivosmart. It's been 2 days! They keep saying "try again later". How much later is it going to be? I waited what seems like forever for my new Vivosmart and now I can't even use it. :(
